They pretend to pay me, so I pretend to work here. I'd never seriously discuss that with a coworker.

It is never a good idea to tell a co-worker how much you make. A good way of answering the person is to tell them you are uncomfortable with discussing your pay since it is a personal matter. They should understand and respect your privacy.

Tell them you would rather not discuss your salary b/c there are many factors that go into a person's salary, therefore, how much your make in relation to another co-worker is irrelevant. If they don't like that answer, then they probably just wanted to know to tell everyone else. I wouldn't tell them.

I would tell them that I make jsut about as much as them and then change the subject. That way they will kinda get the point that you don't want to talk in exact amounts and I don't think companies really like it when their employees discuss their earnings

If they seemed honest and were nice about it with no bad intent, I would probably tell them, but if they are doing it to be catty or nasty to show you up when they tell you what they earn I would come back with a wise crack like "is that before or after you sucking the boss's d*ck??"
Cheers

I have been asked that before and i think it's so rude of them to ask!! if they want to share how much they make, that is up to them, but that question should not be asked.
I usually say " i don't like to discuss my salary" or says it in a funny/nice way "don't be nosy"!

Thank you for sharing, but I don't like to talk about the amount I make. Its enough to cover the bills, so I'm good. Don't ever let someone pressure you into volunteering information just because they did.

My advice is never answer that question! Ever! Even if it isnt a big deal to you it usually is to others and causes a whole lot of problems at work. Does with my employees any way.

I'd tell them as nice as possible that it's none of their business how much I make.

I would say that I think it's not appropriate to discuss pay rate, and tha besides, it depends on experience and seniority

i make like ten times what my assistant makes and i'm happy to tell her. I always tell and either whine or gloat depending on the circumstance.
