I agree with Anwar that Malaysians are generally a friendlier bunch and we speak BETTER English than most Singaporeans *sorry* that's my opinion.
I'm baffled as to how Reader's Digest voted Singaporeans to be the courteous lot. Because I've frequented Singapore several times in the past... and let's just say that not all encounters were friendly & failed to leave an impression on me. OK enough with the bashing.
On to other things, I agree that Malaysia has many other areas to work on but it's a place I'm proud to call home.

To xandrix:
I'm sorry you feel that way. You obviously didn't venture out of K.L, probably. Or were you just confined to your hotel room the entire time?!
Among other things, we Malaysians enjoy good food around the clock, reasonable priced costs of living as oppose to New York or London, etc.
I disagree on your point on our shopping malls. If anything, shopping in Malaysia is cheap, varied & there's plenty of malls to choose from.

As a Singaporean, I often travel to Malaysia. Malaysia is a lovely country on one side, and a not-so-beautiful (sorry!) country on another side. I have visited Genting Highland, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, and Petaling Jaya. And I have to say that those cities/islands are so beautiful and lovely. But, sorry I have to say that I don't like smaller Malaysian cities/parts. They are sometimes dirty, full of small, undeveloped (or something) houses. Still, Malaysians are so friendly, even friendlier than Singaporeans I think. And I like Malaysian (Nyonya) food, too. It is full of spices and tastes special.

I'm sorry but a " A big No". I was so disappointed when I visited KL. I watched and read a lot a promotional ads on TV and Magazines but most of them are just exaggerations. I expected too much for nothing. The night life is boring and there are only few shopping malls to shop. And the taxi drivers they are the worst.

I love Malaysia for its food and culture but hate it for its corruption and discrimination. I dont understand why there should be a segregation between the bumi's and non bumi's when we are all born here and contribute equally to the growth and development of the country

i think its nice..but not very secure there. friends going over to JB have gotten robbed twice in a day before. when you travel along there, dress like a pauper, no gold watches and wear ill fitting t shirts and bermudas. kinda blend in to the local population so you dont attract attention from the vultures there
