I would definately protect my Fridge! Why?
First, I use a debit card, I can stop use on it before he even walks out.
Secondly, I paid a lot of money for my delicious groceries and I love food!

My wallet - because trust me, if you have a lot of money in your wallet, you can make up for all the food the burglar ate! Besides, money is more important than most things (in my honest opinion) including food.

It depends on how the burglar enters your home. If it's through and open door or open window the "burglar", it can be argued, should have a reasonable expectation of safe passage. If as the homeowner you negligently create an unsafe condition you can be held liable for resulting injuries including death. I don't have the caselaw on hand but I believe there was at least one similar scenario where the family of a criminal that fell down a staircase and injured his back sued the homeowner and won. Sick world we live in.

I would protect my wallet. My refrigerator and the food in it can be easily replaced. Having to cancel all my credit cards would take a lot more time.
