I need to get to Edinburgh from Stanstead Airport. Have found a very cheap flight, but to Glasgow (Preswick) instead. Is there transport from Glasgow airport directly to Edinburgh, or do I need to go into the city. Any idea how is easiest to do this trip and how much it might cost? Thanks!

By Train

The best way to get from Glasgow to Edinburgh is by train. Glasgow Prestwick Airport has its own train station. Trains operate every 30 minutes (60 minutes on Sundays) to Glasgow Central Train Station between the hours of 06:00 - 23:08. The journey time is 44 minutes. Currently the cost of a single ticket into Glasgow Central Station is £2.50.

For more details visit the Glasgow Prestwick Airport site or First ScotRail.

Trains to Edinburgh from Glasgow run regularity up to four times per hour. A single ticket costs from £8.50. Timetables are available online.

There's nae guid links atween Prestwick an Edinburgh. Your best bet is either tae grab a bus frae the nearby toun of Ayr to Edinburgh, which'll take you 2.5 hours and cost ye a taxi to Ayr.. - or to get intae Glasgow and onwards by train. Buses are a much cheaper option, but it's a pity Prestwick is hardly connected. Glasgow tae Edinburgh should cost ye less than five pounds and for that, check the Citylink site quoted below.

As Scotrail has been bought by the shite bus company 'First', who also run bus services throughout the Glasgow area, you have nae howp of checking a train schedule online. The Scotrail website could as well be taken doon.
