a better question might be "why is God?".
God is a word for the unknown that humans have had since the begining of time. whether it was multiple gods as in the olden days or the single God as we see today. God is an idealogy that there is something greater than ourselves that will help us in our daily lives. People believe for very different reasons, some do it simply because they were brought up that way, some people truly do believe and some are doubtful. humans have an inherent need to know that there is some constant source in this life and, it seems, having a belief that no matter what else can happen, there's one constant and never ending thing that will always be the same no matter what, provides that grip on reality that can never be shaken.

God is not a being that you can see, feel or understand. In my life He is in my heart. When I think about things I ask the Lord what should I do and when the thought comes to my mind I know it is from Him. I feel God in my life that is why I believe in Him. When I have faith that something will work out, no matter what it always does in some way. It may not be in my time, but it is always in the Lord's time. He opens doors for you and gives you every opportunity if you just reach out and take it. A lot of this sounds cliche until you surrender to the Lord you wont be able to know that He truly exists until you let Him show you. Thats what is so hard for people they want the proof that He is exists and then they will believe. You have to whole heartedly believe first and then He will show up in a big way in your life and through that you will know He is real. As complicated as it is thats how I came to believe in Him.

GOD IS! That is the closest to a correct answer that can be had. All that is in the universe is of God and in God. Every "where" is within God, because the concept of where implies within the universe. People still believe in God for many reasons. Some - the most fortunate - have had a religious experience, usually in a time of hardship, that convinces them completely of God's reality. That applies to many former atheists. Most believers hold their convictions as a result of upbringing. Most or all human societies believe in some non-corporal (or spiritual) realm. This can range from propitiating the mysterious forces of nature, ancestor worship through to a sophisticated pantheon of gods & goddesses, to the monotheistic religions. Mankind seems predisposed to believe in forces beyond the physical world.

People need to believe in something.
God is a way people can explain how they came about.
see, have you ever wondered where and why you are here?
in your heart of hearts, do you know the answer to that?
No, I don't think so.
and no, you are not alone.
But now, Invent a "GOD" scenario. And you will have a purpose.
And big business mind you.
There is no one conclusive theory that i would personally swallow. theological or scientific. I think its all grasping at a bunch of straws - they are grasping for the same answer using different methods. And their conclusions clash. Shouild I rely on faith (no scientific basis) or should I believe I cme form Monkeys?
No on both counts.
There is a Big LIE in the middle of your be LIE fs

God is the strongest athority in the world. God is the father of Jesus Christ. He created all living things including the earth. He lived in this earth for many years way before we all were born and before the earth was formed. People that believe in God will be blessed. We all believe in god in different religions. There is Muslim, Christianity, etc..... God lives outside the earth. If you want to know more about god, you should read the Bible because it tells you about God and much much more.

Because it makes people feel more comfortable to think that there is a guy in the sky watching out for them, making their lives better, fixing all their messes, and taking care of their dead relatives. It must be a great feeling...to think that however you act, whatever you do, whoever you hurt - the guy in the sky will forgive you, love you, and make it all better. Plus you have a nice rent-free place to go after you're dead and all your family and friends will be there! If I had a simple mind and could believe that crap, it would probably be pretty nice.
But I'm logical, so I can't believe in an imaginary friend. I had one when I was 4, he was cool, but he was a complete figment of my imagination, and didn't exist outside of my brain. I understand that science exists, and provides logical explanations for many occurrences such as evolution. I believe that I control my life, make my own decisions, and should hold responsibility for those decisions. If I hurt someone, I need to atone to the person, I can't believe a spirit is going to make everyone ok. If someone in my family dies before they are expected, I believe something in their body malfunctioned, and they didn't work anymore, much like a car. I can't believe god worked in a mysterious way, and had a reason for it. It's just something every fiber of my logical brain rallies against, so it's not something I can subscribe to.
Furthermore, the fact that I don't believe in a higher power does not make me a shallow person, devoid of meaning in my life. To the contrary, I feel like I create my own meaning in my life, and am more cognizant of how my behavior and choices effect other people, because I don't have a god to blame my acts on.
So that's me in a nutshell, of course I'm more in the minority. But I'm happy and secure in my own beliefs, so it works for me. I understand that not everyone is self-aware and able to rely on logic, so for them, a belief in the seemingly impossible works for them. I subscribe to the notion of believing whatever works for you, and not pushing your beliefs down someones throat.

God has this confliction of hiding in the shadows till the end, or bursting onto the scene in a blaze of glory. The others, psuedo-Gods, have their own work to do, but the one true father built something for them all. It's just simple fact, and refusal of Truth, is denial of self.
