There are many important guidelines to follow when applying makeup. Firstly, your eyes and your mouth are the two major features on your face, which is why it isn't a good idea to overdo both simultaneously. For example, if you are wearing heavy eye makeup, complete with mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil, etc., you should avoid wearing too much lip makeup (lipstick, gloss, lipliner, etc.) because it makes your face look chaotic and takes away from the beauty of your eye makeup. Instead, apply a simple, light lipgloss to compliment your eye makeup. And vice-versa! If you want to draw attention to your lips by wearing a lip plumping gloss as well as lip liner and the works, you will want to keep your eye makeup simple. Also, with mascara, the shade you use during specific times of day is crucial. Never wear extremely dark and heavy shades of mascara during the day, just as you wouldn't wear evening shoes at noon. It's tacky! During the day, wear lighter masracas, like dark brown, but never black! Save the extreme black mascaras for evening outings. Also, concealer is an absolute miracle! It's amazing what a difference it makes if there is one less blemish on your face. Many people also underestimate the effects blush has. It instantly brings so much color to your complexion, which makes you look healthier and even happier. Finally, eyebrows are an extremely important asset to the face because they are very distinctive and make your eyes look more attractive. Don't ignore them! Groom your eyebrows regularly by going to get them waxed, or you can tweeze them yourself, but be careful! You don't want to end up with a completely bald face! But if done correctly, eyebrow shaping makes a huge difference in your overall appearance. You can also enhance your eyebrows by darkening them or filling them in with eyebrow pencil. Hope these tips prove to be helpful! Good luck in cosmotolegy!

It's really easy to learn how to apply your makeup professionaly. Like with painting, you want to work with a clean clear canvas, with your face i'll look much nicer, and go on much easier if you have clear skin. First you apply your concealer where ever needed, moisture helps blend Foundation, set with powder, add a little blush, to your cheekbones by smiling, maybe ad a little black eyeliner but not too much you don't wanna look like a racoon, if you want to define your eyes a little better shade in your brows with a eyebrow pencil, put on a little lip gloss and your good to go. Practise makes perfect, keep putting on your makeup different ways until you find what you like best.

for a photo-finish:
1. wash your face
2. moisturize your face
3. wait 5 min, then use tissue paper to lightly press the face to get the extra grease (most important when you have oily skin)
4. using a wet sponge, "dab" on a thin layer of foundation (the ones containing sparkles are good)
5. use another dry sponge, again "dab" a thin layer of foundation (w/o the sparkles, otherwise it will make ur face shine way too much) on the parts that you normally get oily
6. blush
7. power with translucent powder. (the color ones would actually make this technique end up very cakey)
8. spary on Evian water or some sort of makeup setting spary
9. gently use tissue paper to press extra water/spary
10. finish your rest of make up (eyes, lip...)

This is a bit too heavy for everyday wear, but it's a very nice technique for dance and parties when you want to look elegant~!!

good luck~!!

I am a Mary Kay beauty consultant so maybe I can help. You either need to accentuate your eyes or your lips....not both at the same time. If you chose to bring our your eyes, go very light on the lip color and visa versa. Mascara is everything! If that's all you wear.....put on mascara. It will make your eyes look alive. Go to www.marykay.com/crlancaster for some great tips on how to apply makeup and what colors to use. Hope this helps!

I agree with Robin....less is more. Also, look into Bare Essentuals and some of the mineral based make-ups. They look more natural but cover the same. It is extremely helpful for those like me who have Rosacea (skin problem) and can't wear liquid make-up.

put lightener on your eyes, forehead, cheekbones and a line from your forehead to your mouth and blush on your lower cheeks, and the sides of your forehead. this will make your face nicer and it will give it a texture so you cant see that much make-up

as long as you don't over do it, it's fine. makeup are there just to enhance your features and to hide some flaws not to make a mask out of it.

Just go natural, the more make up you wear, you won't look natural!
