Give her 3 seperate presents for your 3rd Anniversary (maybe one at breakfast, one at lunch and one at dinner),
one gift certificate for a book store with a sweet caption like "It's our anniversary and I've "booked" a special day..."
second gift could be flowers, "It's our anniversary and I want to "flower" you with affection..."
and the third could be given at dinner with (my favorite gift ever) a charm bracelet, with a heart on it (and each year or holiday you add a charm to her bracelet)... with a note like "your "charm" is one of the many things I love about you"
Just be creative and she will love it!

Cash is definitely NOT the answer - and the book store doesn't sound very romantic. How about a nice day out with a manicure/pedicure or a gift certificate for a massage?

Gift certificates show that you were rushing for a gift or just didn't feel like searching. Cash would be better than a gift certificate. Why not just take her out to a fancy restaurant and a movie like you probably used to do. This will bring back fond memories.

Cash and a gift cert ... what's the difference? How about a dinner for two with you? Don't you think that would be more thoughtful?

If she is a "reader", go with the book store gc.
Do NOT give her cash, that is unromantic.
You could always try body lotions and may a new silky robe. That is sweet and romantic.

Never give cash. Grandma's give cash.
Take her out! Take her shopping. Treat her to a day at the spa. How about a picnic in a park?
