I think it depends.
This is the defintion of wise on Webster:
characterized by wisdom : marked by deep understanding, keen discernment, and a capacity for sound judgment b : exercising sound judgment.
Although wisdom has been contributed to age, it is not necessarly true. If you have done nothing with your life but sit on a couch, you have very little wisdom, no matter how old you are.
Education does not garuntee Wisdom at all. However, it does garuntee that you are active with your life and are doing something productive. Hence, gaining wisdom.
So, perhaps an uneducated elderly person with worldy experience has more wisdom than a university student. However, it is common to see a non-educated middle aged person have less wisdom than a university student.
It is really what you are doing with your life. Having more time to be productive helps gain wisdom.

Wisdom comes from processing information intelligently. If you have more information, it can produce a better outcome if you process it well, but it does not necessarily follow that more education makes a person wiser. Education is important because it gives you tools and explains how to access and use information, therefore education should never be downplayed, but it is not the final answer.

No, not necessarily. Wisdom comes from knowledge and experience - and allowing yourself to be open to both. If you are educated you have a better chance of being wise.
Some people who are educated think it is just a way to get a better job. They keep their education in a box and only take it out at work. This is not wise.
Other people who aren't educated are open to learning from the world around them and they become wise.
Better still, have your education, learn from the world and be open to both. This is the way to wisdom.

it depends on what he or she studies. But i have to say, given the state of education these days, wisdom is in short supply in schools and universities.
actually when i was an undergraduate, I took a course called "Wisdom" (this btw was a state school-- no religious affiliation.) It was one of the best classes-- we read Chuang Tzu, Thomas Aquinas, and modern writers too (like Robert Bly). I've retained a lot from the class, and it may have been a good foundation for finding wisdom in my life.

Being an educated person makes it more likely you will be a wise person... but doesn't automatically make you "wise".
Educated means informed, aware and interested... wisedom is something gained with age and exeperience.
And educated person is more likely to ultimatly make the decisions which will lead them to wisdom.
One could argue that wisdom is the ability to combine knowledge and exeperience into a whole.

Not all the time. My father in law is considered a genius, but the man can't figure out how to open a trash bag. To find the "wiser" person you must first consider the question and situation.

No, they were just able to afford tution and books.
Maybe they've learned a couple of things or two, but a college education doesn't make you wiser...just proficient in a certain field.

No. Consider all of the boneheads that come out of Harvard, Yale, etc. Then look at someone like Abraham Lincoln who spent about 15 minutes in school.
Wisdom comes from experience yes, but mostly from acknowledging to yourself that there's something greater than yourself out there...and that you can't possibly ever know the answer to every question.
