You can't hate something that you don't already love. Otherwise, you'd just be indifferent.

Where there is love there is no room for hate. You may hate an action of someone, but if you truly love someone, then there is no room for hate. Remember, hate is a very strong emotion. One that is consuming and detrimental to the hater and possibly even the hated. When you are hurt by or angry at someone, why let them have control over your emotions? Then they have really won. Don't let them do that to you. You are responsible for you emotions and why give someone else that power over you?

Yes, i think it is more likely to hate someone you truly love.
I notice that love and hate come together in really strong relationships, like marriage. Having both feelings about someone is very common. Sounds normal to me.

I am still very much in love with my daughters father (soon to be ex hubby) but I definitely do not like the person he has become and can come pretty close to saying I hate him. Not just because of the way he has treated me but mostly because of the way he has treated his children both my daughter and my step daughter. So its not as hard as some folks think - or as uncommon

That is impossible. You can never hate some one you love. If you hate some one you thought you loved, you never really loved that person. You may be mad at the person but still love them, or you can hate what they did but still love them.

Because of momentary distractions, sometimes we do that with our parents, relatives, friends ...but not for a longer period.
Here also you truly love answerer's, yet you hate them, why? you know better than me - it is all part and parcel of our life.

Love and hate are both very extreme emotions, and you can't have one without the other.
You can't truely hate something unless you truely love or care for what it's against. And if someone you once loved has turned away, you hate them because you can't have that love you used to have.
Likewise, you can't truely love someone without hating being without them.

The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. Both love and hate require passion, and it's easy for that passion to vary in the way it expresses itself.
