I like Netflix but they seem to send me a lot of scratched dvds that I can't watch. Anyone else have this problem?

I have only had one bad one. I returned it and reported it, and they said they would pull that disk out of circulation. They sent the same movie on a good disk within a couple of days.
I guess it depends on what movies you watch. Kidflicks tend to get banged around a bit more.
If you do get a scratched disk, you can try giving it a wipe with a soft cotton cloth and some windex or other window cleaner. Sometimes that works well enough to let the film load.
Bottom line, though, return, report, and be patient. It's an exception, not the rule, so far as my experience would indicate.

I've tried both services, and I received more unplayable DVDs from Blockbuster than Netflix, even when I went into the store to switch them I still got ones that were scratched and skipped and didn't play. Therefore I chose Netflix over Blockbuster and have never had a problem!

I've been using Netflix since it first started. Lately I've been getting more and more damaged disks...more often cracked rather than just scratched. The problem definitely seems to be getting more frequent, but there are a ton more users now. They do send a new one quickly, but it's a bit of a pain!

It's the same with Blockbuster online, I'll get scratched and/or damaged DVDs all the time. That's the first thing I check when getting a new one. I guess it would cost more for them to send them in better protected envelopes than to replace the DVDs themselves.

If they are scratched and don't play, you can go right on their site and click on damaged dvd under your account and they send you a new one right away. I don't seem to have this problem with them often, but it could be the area that you live in!! You could always cancel and try blockbuster online and see if the dvd quality is different :)

Yes. I have had to return several I couldn't even watch! Then you have to wait to get it again or get another. Here's a tip a woman who works at Blockbuster told me- both B.B. & Netflix wait to send your next movie after recieving it, so when you return a movie go to your account & report the movie has been returned. I do this & I get my movies 1-2 days sooner now. And I thought it was a Post Office conspiracy! lol.

That would be the fault of the idiots that rent and don't respect the dvds!!! It happens anywhere you rent movies, people just don't think of the fact that these discs don't belong to them and they shoud treat them as if they were. Things like this make me miss the days of having to charge over $100/video if ruined (I used to run a video store). Trust me though, Blockbuster Online is way worse in all aspects!
