No, we should not get rid of the penny. It may cost 1.3 cents to make a penny, but can you imagine what it would cost to change all of the educational documents to exclude the penny? Do you think your employer is going to round your paycheck UP? Very unlikely. The cost of living will significantly increase!

They should finally get rid of pennies I am sick and tired of having to throw away pennies, because they are not worth anything. It gets really annoying saving pennies, because you need 100 to just have $1.00 which is ridiculous. The store prices can be very easily fixed by just rounding down below 7 and rounding up above 8, to the nearest 5 cent price. It's about time that someone decides to get rid of what will be completely worthless in less than 5 years, due to inflation.
What makes this situation worse of all is if you even tried buying something with pennies people will laugh at you ;)

No way should they get rid of it. If it costs so much just produce a lot less. They could just recycle pennies and turn old ones into new ones.
THe biggest problem I have is that if the penny is abolished all costs will be rounded up to the nearest nickle. That may not sound like alot but over a year it will really add up.

I personally like the penny. So many people just throw them away. People laugh cause I pick them up.
I save them and other coins for something that I want and will get eventually
How many times have you been to a store and they say "that will be 2.02 and you hand them 2.05
If they did away with the penny would the stores , etc have to charge more for items because of no more pennies?

Actually the plan is to round down for .1 and .2 and to round up for .3 and .4 and so on. So yes I think we should all take our pennies, donate them so the metal can be used for something else and say goodbye to the little vacuum breakers forever.

So would everything be rounded to end in 5 cents versus 1 cent. on our pricing.. For ex: at the register would a total that would normally cost $5.13 be rounderd to $5.15?
Wouldn't that make our prices go up. You are right, we should make it into another metal!

And then all prices could be bumped up by four cents? I hope we keep the penny.
Of course, my opinion and three bucks won't get you a gallon of gas, these days.

No. I don't think that we should. What are you going to do when the change is 17 cents? Then what? i think we should keep them.

Get rid of it. It is insignificant and a waste of time.
