I hear a ticking noise. It's only when I accelerate. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks!

I know you all can't diagnose the prob. from the internet, but based on your mechanical knowledge, do you think it will break down on me before I can have it looked at on Monday morning? I'm a little worried about that!

I would start witht he spark plugs. If they have more than 30K on them, go ahead and put new ones in. Also, Check your Rotor cap and button, These can cause a knock on acceleration. If there is any corrosion in the cap, go ahead and replace it. It'll cost about $20 and it will help your gas mileage also. If the knock is still there you may try some good fuel additive and throw a bottle of Lucas Oil Stabilizer in at the next oil change.

could be any number of things... your pushrods (tappets) my need to be adjusted. older Fords used to 'tick' when they needed oil. those are the first 2 things that come to mind at the moment. try to locate the noise... have a friend help you....one of you listen to the engine w/ the hood open, and the other steps on the gas.

my be a loose spark plug wire. When you accelerate the engine torque moves the engine ever so slightly. Enough to cause wires, hoses etc. to move from thier possition.

Check your oil.
If that is near the full line, you should be fine until Monday.
