because...when its raining Morton's salt still pours it doesn't clump up....
really.....when you see one thing go wrong you get depressed then it seems so huge to you like your whole world is screwed up and everything is going wrong....you stand up and say "bullfrog!" "I ain't gonna take this crap anymore!" and then do positive things until you don't remember the one dang thing that started the whole mess.

This is an interesting question. I am inclined to suggest that when one has the shock of having something go wrong, particularly in a big way, that one's perception is at least temporarily inclined to notice every other thing that goes wrong...thus it begins to look like a pattern or trend, not just a series of random events.
On the other hand, it has been my experience too that when one thing goes wrong, it at least appears to me that two more things will go wrong. It would be good to find out if anyone has done a statistical study of people and the events in their lives over time to see if there is real evidence that "trouble comes in threes" or that "when it rains, it pours."

"When it rains it pours" was an ad slogan invented by the Morton salt company. They add calcium cilicate to the salt to absorb moisture. So this allows it to pour during times of higher humidity, such as when it's raining outside.
There is an old saying that goes: "It never rains, but it pours." which means One stroke of good (or ill) fortune is often followed by many other instances of luck (or misfortune) when you least expect them.
It's cause and effect. Once you get a ball rolling downhill it's going to pick up speed until it crashes into a tree or something.

Physics is involved. That is, it is natural for events and things to clump together . There is actually a principle from quantam mechanics at work here, but the principle slips my mind. Matter and energy both come in discrete quanta. For example, it is extremely rare to find a single platinum atom laying around somewhere. It will be found with other platinum atoms, most likely bound to them. Water adheres, or clumps together.
It has been observed that this same phenomenon occurs in poker games even - people go on runs of luck, and on runs of bad luck.
The bad luck in your life won't last forever.

I think when something big goes wrong in your life, you tend to get in a state of mind that makes you feel that everything that happens after that was a result of the original thing, you start to think you that nothing will go right .

We all have tons of things happen to us, both good and bad, but random occurances tend to cluster. For instance, flip a coin a hundred times and it will come up heads about half the time, but it won't go heads-tails, heads-tails, heads-tails a hundred times...it'll come in groups. Everything is like that...gambling, the weather. So when it 'pours' you are hitting a statistical cluster of bad events. There may be some deeper, metaphysical reason, but I think that it is simply the nature of random occurences.

It means loook to the bright side. Things are about to get a lot worse.
Because rain clouds get so much water vapor, they must let some out in the form of rainwater. It rains when it is 100% humidity because there is actual water in the air.

Generally speaking people who do not like others meaning you me or anyone else enjoys causing additional suffering during your hardship. They are trying to see if you will be motivated to a place of anger where you will have a catastrophic failure. Remain calm never sweat the little stuff and there is no be big stuff.

Du-du happens. It just seems like everything is going wrong,
but we do have control over what happens to us.
If you are having a particularly bad day, go back to bed and get
some sleep until you can face the world again in a little while.

sometimes we cling to old ways and habits when they're no longer good for us. even tragedies are new opportunities, sometimes it takes a run of bad luck to motivate us into action.with your own metaphor when it rains it pours, the pouring rain can wash away the debris and leave us clean and ready for the new. trust the universe.
