I would do my portion of the project and give them a little time to show what they are willing to do. If after a short time and they haven't completed anything or very little, I would tell them to pick up their slack or you would be taking this to the manager. I would at least allow them the opportunity to change before taking it to the boss. Sometimes showing mercy can work in your favor.

well, you don't want to piss off your coworker by snitching on him, even though he deserves it. what i would is tell my boss that i have finished with my side of the assignment and that you will cojoin with your coworker to finalize when he finishes his part of the assignment. suggest if he wants to get this project finished quickly that he might want to check on your coworkers progress.
leave it up to your boss to find out your coworker is slacking. he will realize this if he checks and finds out the coworker is far behind when you have already finish. i agree that this is totally unfair and your coworker needs a kick in the butt, but let your boss be the kicker that way no blame can or should fall on you.
you could always drop a hint to your coworker that you will be going to your boss to let them know you have finished your half of the assignment and see if this doesn't get his butt moving. if not go for the butt kicking suggestion. the first suggestion should get you the recognition from your boss on finishing fast(even if he doesn't mention that to you, and if he was a fair boss he would, but atleast you have planted the seed) and if he does check on your coworker the poop should hit his fan. GOOD LUCK, and congrats on getting your job done!

Foget about him and focus on the task @ hand. Work that chump right under the table. You can be Michael Jordan to his Scottie Pippen if you want to:) Don't pay him any mind at all. Do a little extra just for the sake of it. It's not about this turkey anyway. Don't let him bring you down to his level.

ask him when he plans on getting his work done because he is affecting your performance .
When it crosses over and affects your work, you have every right to confront him or else you'll both be in s*** with the boss if the projects are not completed.
I would also speak to your manager about the issue. Because of the other guy, your work progress is being affected

Offer to help. If he refuses and if you are left with nothing to work on then ask your manager if they have other work for you to do. Only when they ask why you're looking for other work should you tell them that you are finished and waiting on the other person who refused your offer to help. Anything else will make you a tattletale.

D . It is not your responsibility to coax him to do his job. Do your part and let the manager know the situation. He has to answer for his own actions, Also, you should let him know that his actions about the projects are not fair because his lack of work may reflect negatively on you.

wow, that does put you in bad position.
i think you should do little of A. & B. tell him that you are done and he should be also. work on it with him. if he is not cooperative then do it and report it if your manager is the kind who won't think you aren't just complaining because you work fast and he doesn't.
good luck with this.

Depends on the type of boss you have. If you have one that deals with problems then tell your boss. On the other hand if your boss doesnt deal with issues then you may just have to suck it up and start looking for a new job.

I would say A. Try to get him to do it first, and then if he does not, then tell a manager.
