If the tank is empty then you can't drive anywhere. duh!

Most cars still have 2 or 3 gallons ledt when the needle is on "E". However, presuming the tank is actually empty (not just the needle is on "E").... It depends on how much gas your car drinks... you are basically running on the fuel left in the lines. In a Honda Civic you may get 5-10 miles. In a Suburban you would probably get about a mile.

Probably one minute after all the gas is out from the fuel system.
