My idea is to reduce the number of games played to 16 like the NFL. That way each game becomes more valuable. A game in baseball is worth 1/162 of a season while in football each game is worth 1/16. This would also let 1 pitcher for the team become somewhat like a quarteback. He would only have to pitch once a week because they would only play once a week and would set the tone for the whole team

fewer and fewer kids play baseball every year. don't pretend that baseball is invicible. horse racing was the most popular sport for thousands of years and it was replaced. Baseball must adapt or it will die on the vine much like boxing.

shorten the season,by 154 games like it used too and quit expanding,there is no parity in baseball like it used too,and have a salary cap so small market teams have a shot at winning the ultimate prize

The best thing that baseball can do is add a salary cap to help even out the playing field. The NFL has one and you typically cannot pick the Super Bowl winner at the beginning of the season, and I think it has brought more parity to the league.
You can usually tell by looking at the payrolls which teams will make the playoffs. Granted, there are some high dollar teams that don't usually do all that well (ex. - Toronto spent a lot of money this offseason, but I don't see them finishing ahead of either the Red Sox or the Yankees), and some small market teams that come out of nowheresville to compete (ex. the Brewers are only 4.5 games behind the division leading Cardinals), but typically, at the end of the season it is the teams that have the money to spend that make the playoffs.
That being said, I don't see it happening as long as Steinbrenner is around. All he cares about is buying a championship, not parity.

Reducing the number of games to 16 in baseball is the most absurd thing I have ever heard! There would be so many ties for division leads...and wild cards it would be too hard to sort out. And the season would last like a month... with the post season.
The 162 game season forces teams to think of strategy.. like the 5 man rotation, bull-pen by committee, who to pick up in free-agency and who to trade for.
Football is a much more physical sport, therefor the athletes cant last through a long season like baseball...But believe me, if they could, I'm sure they would lengthen the season.
