I'm currently employed as a graphic designer at my first official place of employment. I've been with the company for over a year but don't feel I'm growing or learning as much I could be somewhere else. But I know the field is competitive...and well, the benefits are great! I've been longing to move away from my hometown and experience more and maybe land a better job that hopefully I would feel more productive at.
Should I stay or take a chance and move on..possibly risking everything?? could use some help...thanks!

Wow. Toughy there. I am in the same situation! I am just bored with my job and am wondering if it is the end all be all for me. The benefits couldn't be better, retirement is great, etc.... my pay sucks tho. I did move away, even to a new state. I love it where I am now, but don't know if I want to feel like I am going nowhere for the rest of my life. I think you should check into what is out there. Send out some resumes and see what kind of responses you get. Check out where you might wanna move to and find out the basic cost of living. If the job comes at you where you would like to move to, then go for it. Life is tooooooooooo short. Good Luck!!!

Look, you get one shot, your time is too precious to waste doing something you don't absolutely love. Some people can be happy in most any job, but it sounds like you need more. I'm not saying quit, run away, and join the carnival. Be intelligent make a plan to make your life what you want, or at least give yourself the opportunity to find out what you want. This isn't a pipe dream this is a priority, figure out how to do it and execute. Your own happiness is worth a great deal of focus and effort.

If you're really that unhappy in the situation right now, and all you ever think about is changing things and seeing what else is out there, then you should go for it. You'll never know if you don't try, and you are taking a chance, but even if it doesn't work out, at least you'll know because you tried.

I think you should thorw your resume out there, see what kind of offers you get. But dont ever leave a job without having one waiting for you. And I wouldnt put myself in the position where I'd lose my benefits. They are almost as important as your pay!

You can find somewhere else that will make you happier, but could have just the same benefits. But, you don't want to leave your job until you've found another one.
