The toothpaste tubes are split into section for each colour, which is why they still come out stripey when you squeeze them any way.
I read it in a book when I was about 9 and it just stuck!

The toothpaste is white. At the top of the tube there are small reservoirs containing the coloured stripes. When the past is squeezed out, some of this colour is squeezed out with it.

There are separate reservoirs in the tube, one for each colour and each has its own tiny nozzle that opens at the end. When you squeeze it some comes out of each nozzle as separate stripes.

the colours are seprate in squirty nozzles, the nozzles come down all together into the tube and quickly squirt out while moving the nozzles up the tube.

Ive seen it done.

The stripes are coming through different holes in a duct and each hole contain different stripe/colour.
