Of course many people do - Murderers for example put up the excuse that they were acting on orders from voices in their head. Trickcyclists (as Psychiatrists are known in Police jargon) are used, yes I do mean used, by the Defense to try to get their clients off the charge. Occasionally they succeed to the detriment of the public who suffer from things that the person acquitted later does..............

I've never had to see a Psychologist. What would a person get of lying to them. Maybe saying those things determine's that a oerson really need's theses appt's.

when i was a child, i decided that the parent paid the bill. so the doctor must be the employee and therefore untrustworthy. i felt that since my parents were the reason i was in such pain, that he must not be trusted. i felt that to tell him what my parents were really doing to me would cause me more pain. so, i lied. i picked a mental illness and said i had the symptoms of it so i wouldn't get more abuse from my parents. they happily "went alone with it" seeing that they were cleared of any wrong doing, that way i could be "cured", and "pretend" i was never abused.

I went to a counsellor once, and really didn;t enjoy the experience, so didn't follow it up. However, she kept emailing me periodically, enquiring if I was ok. So I made another appointment and told her I had recovered when I hadn't, as she was getting on my nerves so much! I found that I just didn;t want to open up to her.

What's the point of going to a psychologist if you are going to lie to him?
That's not a rational attitude, and may difficult your recovery, if not make you even worse.

No not about hearing them. I had a friend who did and she was trying to collect her disability and got it. Some need the attention you get when you do.

no why would you, isn't the point of talking to someone like that is to find out the truth on why you have certain thoughts or ways of doing thing that may be affecting your life, so why would you lie.

You would only be hurting yourself....

it sounds like you're seeking attention. Could be because you never got attention as a kid. HAH, PSYCHOLOGISTS ARE NOT IN IT FOR THE MONEY. IF THEY WERE, THEY'D BE MEDICAL DOCTORS.
