Got to agree with Matt on this one. Joey Jordison is one of the best drummers i've ever seen. His set with metallica was out of this world at the download fest in 2004.

Matt Cameron, ex Soundgarden and now bangs for Pearl Jam. Try and get a copy of Badmotorfinger or Superunknown especially the track Spoonman. He was originally a jazz drummer and Soundgarden were one of my few favourite bands that play in BIZZARE time signatures. Most of their songs have signatures out of the usual 4/4 stuff you hear most bands playing. Check out the rhythm during the solo to "Black Hole Sun". And the intro to "Jesus Christ Pose". When touring during Lollapalozza in the mid ninties, he earned the knickname "God's Drummer" by the other artists on the bill.

It's got to be Jaki Liebezeit from Can. He gets so much going on from a quite basic set up and makes it sound like two or three drummers are playing at the same time. Check out Tago Mago or Monster Movie and you'll see what I mean. In fact, check them all out! They're all absolute classics!
