what do you consider to be emo and do you consider it to be a bad thing?

my friend is always labelled as an emo as though its a bad thing. i dont think theres anything wrong with it. if a person chooses to wear black or listen to different music its there choice and i dont think we should label them!

YES! go you! you are the first person whom i have (well not really met but you get the picture) met that has not abonded their friend just because they have been labled. and no its not a bad thing. emo means emotional. emo people are just people that have extreme emotions. i am emo and people lable me but all my friends like me cuz im emo. i consider emo people just being open with their emotions. like if somethings bothering them you know by the way they act. they dont wear a fake smile just to get people off their back. emo people are better friends too. they are very reliable and caring. and emo music/differnet music is great. individualtiy is key when it comes to life. dont worry, the rest of this world has yet to see what we have already discovered.

I don't really consider anything to be emo besides music. Emo music is emotional rock.. something along the lines of Death Cab For Cutie. But if you look at it, really most rock is emo.. I mean even Linkin Park is emo lol

And of course, that being said, I don't think theres anything wrong with people who listen to this music and theres nothing bad about dressing however they choose. Maybe I say this because I am "a person who chooses to wear black and listen to different music..."

The only reason people seem to not like "emo" is because its not the same as what they like or how they dress. People don't like things that are different. But.. its the same for me I guess since I don't like preps and jocks and bimbo cheerleaders, etc etc. xD

Side note.. and whats wrong with being depressed? Whats wrong with being sad? With the way the world is, its also better than being happy over nothing. I wouldn't say I'm depressed all the time and I don't go complaining to people about being sad and mopey, but I sure as hell don't think theres anything worth being happy about either. :)

emo music has been around for almost 20 years and there is nothing wrong with it, it is when people act emo is a problem it is not the way they dress it is the fact that they act sad and depressed all the time at such a young age, most of them don't have any real problems to begin with, so why act so depressed?

if by emo you mean someone who likes hardcore punk music and dresses like it and kinda lives life like that.

If you like it then who is anyone else to say its wrong.

I say so called because if they were true they would not give you attitude about pursuing something you enjoy.

I think you will find that most people like the statis quo and they are threatened by those who think outside of that ideal. They dont think outside it because and this is kind of ironic FEAR.

Yep the thing that keep them in the doldrum of everyday thinking is fear... fear of parent fear of peer pressure fear of the unknown. You are much more of person for going against the grain and doing what you like instead of just going with the flow...
