You know, as soon as anyone starts a statement with words like "it's a known fact," or "everyone knows that" I can be 90% sure that what's coming next is a lie or exaggeration.
If it is truly a "known fact," then you wouldn't have to say that. People start their opinions with that statement because they think the person to whom they're speaking will be afraid to contradict them for fear of looking dumb. It's an intimidation ploy, and it doesn't work on everyone.
1 - We didn't "invade" other countries. We were attacked, and we fought back. Self-defense is always a good argument.
2 - We don't respect countries that treat their citizens like property and not individuals. I'll give you that. Please defend your position that it's ok to treat people like garbage.
3 - We ARE superior to all other countries. That's why so many people want to come here.
4 - Anything else? YES. We are the best country in the world. Our people are free to do as they choose. If they want to work hard and have a better life, they can. If they choose to do just enough to keep their heads above water, they are free to do that as well. We are one of the few countries in this world where its citizens can speak out against its leaders and the government as a whole. We bring freedom to other countries in order to make the world a better and safer place to be. We do so much for our "less fortunate" citizens, that people from other countries come here illegally to take advantage of the free ride because it's a better life than they can live while WORKING in their own country.
The people who hate us are just jealous.

First, "all the world" does not hate the US. I know this. The Germans don't hate the US. The Iraqi people don't hate the US. The Afghani people don't hate the US. The Chinese and the Russians don't hate the US. South Korea doesn't hate the US. Neither does Great Britain, Spain, France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Greece, Turkey, India, Pakistan, or Australia.
They may not agree with us all the time, but they don't hate us.
What countries have we invaded? Iraq? Yeah, Saddam was a big teddy bear. Afghanistan? Yeah, we had no reason to go there either. Anywhere else? No?
How do we not respect other countries? Because we were tired of the UN's resolutions not doing anything? Yeah, we should have let them warn Saddam of sanctions an additional seventeen times. Or maybe they wanted to make it an even thirty?
And what evidence do you have to support the third one? We don't think we're superior at all.
I'll tell you one thing: Some of these countries "hate" the US...right up until they need something.

Well, seeing as how the US basically gives away billions around the world every year, and goes around fixing other people's problems, that's a darn good question. Maybe we should stop, let em deal with their own poverty, and wars, and social problems...
we seem to be having lots of social problems back in america these days, with 1/2 the third world trying to move in, yeah, maybe some home improvement's in order. Let's get our debt paid off, so that we can be a TRULY prosperous country, stop using imported energy resources, since giving people money just seems to start more problems, dump all the money we'll be saving on that into our R&D, put a base on the moon, put boots on mars, and tell the rest of the world to 'have a GREAT day!' LOL. There's no reason for america to go further in debt to try and help/support other countries that have no inclination to even try to help themselves. What a waste, for us...we could have robo-cars and like, robot maids and stuff...

You're not hated by all the world.
Bush doesn't stand for all of you Americans.
He's nuts but it doesn't mean you are.
I admit that the States cause lots of evil but so do others.
I also (at times) regret not being born anywhere else in different times but what can I do about it?
Let's do our best and that's all.
If you compare 2 approaches to the USA with regard to the cowboy myth, you may get some answer. From what I've read Americans love (sorry if it's generalizing) these lone rangers who come from nowhere and to nowhere they go whan the battle is over. They feel the necessity to engage in violence for the sake of peace that comes afterwards.
Non-Americans perceive this myth in a different way. For them (us I should say) the use of guns is formidable. We cannot understand how a man can kill a man with a gun. We cannot understand how is it possible to make peace by means of killing.
Know that this is not my personal opinion. Who would believe in what Europeans say? We are also hypocrits.
One last thing. I'm a Pole. Lots of Poles hate you Americans. At the same time they love American money. They go to your country to make money and if they get it then they love you. You know what I mean-- they love aspects of America that bring them profit. And I bet that the same goes for other nations. Don't listen to criticisms of people who are
hypocrits
evil
unjust
ignorants
idiots
The only problem is how to distinguish between the good and the evil.
Bye.

Personally I could give a rats *** if any one likes us or not. The United States has always been there to help. We shell out multitudes of Billions each year in foreign aide. We also have troops all over the world working to liberate or be there in a peace keeping situation. We try to be the first to help in a natural disasters and give more from private charities than any nation on earth. This is just a fad. They no longer have the Soviets to hate so we're next. You don't want the US butting in? fine....we'll take our checkbooks and trained soldiers and go home. We'll also disconnect the red phone when you cry for help too. Americans are getting a little tired of the whining.

There was a lot of aggession towards the USA long before George Bush. The World Trade Center was bombed during Clinton's administration. There was the big hostage situation during Jimmy Carter's administration. There has always been and probably will be aggression towards the US.
Off the subject, you have really bad grammar.

after reading all the answers above... i have to say that most ppl like the American way of life.. and respect their progress in science and technology too..
BUT, the problem of American that they don't know that much about the world.. they are easily affected by the media, .. one of the answers tells that attacking other countries was self defense.. and they are not sure who attacked them in the first place till now.. and also if attacking Afghanistan is justified.. why did you attack Iraq.. and destroyed Iraqis culture and humiliated their dignity..
for oil
for gaining permanent military bases
for protecting oil sources for the American
to surround Iran
to give more protection to Israel
where is humanity... they are humiliating other countries not in the name of protecting democracy as they say.. but in the name of protecting their economy.. and the people are not important at all..
Condalisa Rice her self said that the US army is designed as a killing machine.. so it cant handle being a peace force in Iraq.. and that's why all these moral scandals of torturing prisoners in Iraq or Guantanamo.. i believe that the Nazis were much more moral than USA
actually the answer of "Bharris44" is a clear example for what i can call "deaf fool Americans" who spend that much time on watching CNN... she is a clear example why ppl worldwide hate USA.. and why ppl were happy when USA soccer team was out of the world cup...
Americans are not Superior in any way to any culture.. and this "Roman Empire" attitude will drive the USA to end soon..

human beings hate us of a because they imagine they are the international police. Obama pronounced he became going to kind the international out even as he became elected. he merely doesnt get it. Its no longer for the individuals to address the planet, they ought to wind thier necks in and kind thier own us of a out and under no circumstances dictate to something else of the international what they should be as a lot as. Iran is an exceedingly naughty us of a and could commence a conflict quickly yet thats as a lot as them. If us of a would merely piss off and go away each and absolutely everyone else contained in the international on my own which will be large. Iran is a dump by utilizing the way.
