well, the answer to your question is easy.... there aren't as many people involved in environmental and political matters, as where there are lots of people who have involvement with Wal Mart as part of their daily lives..... and, I have also noticed.... Yahoo Answers does not draw in a vast number of intelligent people... I am not saying everyone is stupid, but by looking around at the questions and answers that come through here, it's pretty clear that a LOT of these people are not what you would consider the "THINK TANK" of America.....

Almost everyone knows Wal-Mart ... from what I can see only about 1 in 100 people actually have any real clue about politics or the environment.

People don't like to get into political or environmental issues. Many try to steer clear of them. Now, Wal-Mart is a totally different story. Everyone knows Wal-Mart.

Most people use this site for fun, to relieve stress, or to get additional ideas on how to handle a subject. A question about WalMart is light and doesn't require much thought, and a subject most everyone is familiar with. However, a serious question requires much thought, and usually necessitates an answer from a person that keeps up with the news in whatever form. Everyone has an opinion, the difference is to what purpose this site is to them.

Because Wal-Mart is, unfortunately, a more frequented zone than politics.

Because American people are one of the most comsumers in the world. They have more knowledge about this than I think any other subject, not just politics or environment.

The majority of people on this site are here to be funny or gross (or both) and the more thought-provoking questions get lost among all the ridiculous ones.

you would have more success if you put an abbreviated version of the question in the title to your question.
e.g. "Why is it?" is too vague, and doesn't interest enough people to read the whole of your question.
