Sodium silicate is a salt. Like table salt "sodium chloride" it is crystalline in nature. This makes it highly abrasive. That is definately not a good thing for your car's engine.

go for it but when the can stops be sure to tell your mechanic that you did so he can take the engin out and charge you a really high price to replace it.
