Because as slaves or "citizens" of the U.S. corporation, we are mentally conditioned to believe the lies that history has to shove down our throats. The school system is designed to indoctrinate not teach. Most don't realize that they are property of the U.S. corporation and continue to allow the lies to keep them asleep from the real truth, for which the Government was created to "Serve and Protect", not citizens "SERVE" the government. This country was founded because smart people wanted to get away from British rule, but the Brits found their way back into the heirarchy and now have full control of this country as well as all others towards a total ruling of the planet by way of "DEMOCRACY" America is the weakening muscle that is used to create what is called the New World Order (1 government for the whole planet). America is how they want the rest of the world to look like eventually. It's not about race it's about control. Here's and example, don't know if it's true but it offers another possibility, Lincoln was an illegitimate son of a Rockafeller, (Presiedents are not elected they are chosen), Lincolns wife was a opium addict and was actually the one who assassinated Lincoln, John Booth was the wifes opium Dealer and was used much like, can't think of the name right now, but the guy who supposedly killed J.F.K. There is tons of hidden info about history that would not be beneficial for the rulers of this world to share with the sheeple, becuase how else would the few be able to control the masses, divide and conquer, fear, false info etc... The sheeple have put their trust in the hands of the wrong folks. Hope this gives you some idea of why we still use History.

Because we can apply the lessons that were learned in the past to situations that come up in the future. We need to know where we come from to have an idea on how to proceed. After all, what kind of shape would you be in if you just woke up one day with complete amnesia, not knowing anything about yourself, and had to rediscover everything from what you like to eat to who your family is?

Also, without knowing the background, you can't predict what will happen in the future. If you didn't know about the Crusades, you might not understand quite so well why some Muslims hate us so much.

Winston Churchill once said "If we don't learn from our past, we are destined to re-live it."

In order to have a better future we need to study and learn from our past so we don't make the same mistakes. Do we really want to go through the times of the Black plague? Or the Inquisitions?

I love history! it's filled with a lot of amazing things and I often refer to history when teaching so students have something to relate to for their future.

Thats pretty simple. Learning history gives us things to use to compare when we face similar situations in the future. Thus being somewhat familiar with the situation we know how to properly approach it. All it makes you more aware of the way were compared to where are today and tomorrow

We study history to understand where we come from and where we are going. It helps prevent mistakes again (slavery). It is just as useful as any science or math class, because we can use it on a daily basis.

It is unfortunate but there are very few new ideas. By new I mean an innovation not built on a previous idea. Most ideas, techniques, products, etc. are the result of building on a previous thought.

WE CANNOT MOVE FORWARD IN LIFE UNLESS UNTIL WE HAVE SOME KIND OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE THING THAT WE ARE DOING.AND THE KNOWLEDGE IS PROVIDED BY THE PERSONS WHO HAVE NOW BECOME A PART OF HISTORY.
THERE IS A SAYING THAT EVERY MOMENT THAT OCCURS ;IT OCCURS TWICE-THE FIRST IS HISTORY AND THE SECOND ONE IS THAT U ARE EXPERIENCING.
