i think that is strange. the relationships that you son hold after you friend's daughter should have no effect on the friendship between you both. i could see how the daughter might feel uncomfortable but why the mother? i would suggest you talk with her over some coffee and and try to salvage the friendship. explain to her that kids break up all the time and ask her if there was a problem with the way that your son treated you daughter whil they were going out.

All you can do is be the same towards her as you were. If her daughter is hurting then she is also hurting and she is holding that against you, she probably dislikes your son for hurting her daughter and is staying away until she has calmed down and can see things logically.
Be as friendly towards her as you were and give her time to come to terms with the situation, once she realises you are the same person you were all will be fine

once a family has been part of your life its hard to deal with a break up and when i went through this i just stop going by the family so that i did not have to talk about the past but if this is a friend that you want to keep just let her know that you two have other thing to talk about but if you find that it's not working for you a easy break will be the best thing to do

Tell her you can't control your sons feelings and it shouldn't end your friendship,it's not your fault
