am i being fooled by the computer dealer. pls help me out.

Because some bios' have a 30GB barrier, many drives have what is called a 30G limit jumper to allow those systems to recognise the drive. Often someone trying to jumper a drive for slave operation accidentally jumper the drive for 30G limit.
Ok, things to check out.
1 - did you accidentally jumper the drive for 30G limit
2 - does your BIOS HAVE the 30GB limit problem

If #2, then you will need to get what is called a "drive overlay".
These are usually freely available from the drive manufacturer's website.

u might have created several virtual cd's/dvd's that may have eaten the space
