Create a directory share on the server(s) that all of the laptop and desktop systems can access.
Create a batch file in the root of each system and call it LOGON.BAT...
In it use the NET USE command to map the drive share mentioned earlier, and then kick off a defrag command all from the command prompt.
Put this shortcut in the startup folder of each system so it'll kick off as soon as it's done authenticating.
Or you can have it set-up to use the Task Scheduler.

I'm not very clued up on the network stuff, but here at work they use novell netware services to install stuff on our pc remotely. Can't a task schedule be created to run defrag from each pc... in that way all you need to do is just to remote setup a task schedule and let defrag. I'm not sure... Did that make any sense?

Being at the network server, u know the IP address of each machine, so you can access each machine using "remote desktop option" (start>>programs>>accessories>>communications). Then you can do the fragmentation easily on each machine.

I should think they know about Diskeeper, http://www.diskeeper.com/products/products.asp?RId=1&SId=1&CId=1&Aeid=0&Apid=0 though whether or not it has the exact features they are looking for, I do not know.
