No religion is the best. In fact no religion is good. Religion is too organized and strict and has too much to do with what men in high places (i.e. the Pope, who was generally a more evil, power-hungry, greedy figure in humanity until at least the 1800's) want you to do, rather than what the Deity actually desires from you.

I guess Buddhism would be a good idea since they suggest peace and non-violence, if I had to choose and organized religion.

I don't fall under a specific category, but I feel that all religions have a distinct purpose. Most religions are peaceful, they promote good in people and urge them to be kind to one another, and they have a "reward" process for the end of one's life, be it a better life in reincarnation, or heaven, etc. Since most religions have common beliefs, it's too difficult to say that one is superior to another. I've gone to many different churches and studied other non-Christian religions, and have come to believe that they are all good, they all have aspects that can make them appear flawed as not every member agrees to follow the religious teachings perfectly, and they all generally promote the idea of living a good life to receive something desired upon death.

So much depends on how you define the term, "best." Of the organized religions, Buddhism, in most, if not all of its forms, has much going for it. However, I can't really say that I would support any organized religion at this point. Of spiritual paths, I would suggest that pantheism is best because it allows for the essential sacredness of all things without the need to overlay that position with deities and dogma.

I have a good friend that is Buddhist, and I love the premises of that faith. Staying on The Middle Path in life, nothing in excess, meditation to calm the spirit and attempt to reach Nirvana. Especially, I like the idea of reincarnation. It makes me feel like I have more chances here on Earth.

Edit: I read the question as "Which would be your FAVORITE religion"...I agree with some and say there isn't a BEST. there's just the BEST for you, the BEST for me, the BEST for that guy on the street in Taiwan.

i dont have a religion, though i am looking into the wicken beliefs. im more spiritual than religous. but i was raised as a mormon. i belief the best church is the church of jesus christ of latter day saints. aka the mormons. simply bc no matter how different they are and how many rules they have, they always have good intentions. they have the largest humanitarian society in the world and are always the first on the scene for things like hurricane katrina and the tsunami in asia. mormons are the best simply because of theyre never ending quest to spread the love.

That's not a good question to ask, generally because people are going to believe that their religion is the best in the world. It all comes down to faith, and faith is what you base your beliefs on. I am Roman Catholic, that's what I believe, and that is the best for me. What is the best for me and the best for you are two different things, so this isn't a question that most people can answer.

It's a great question. It's actually inviting us to say something good about another religion besides our own -- which obviously, we think is the best!

For myself (a Christian), I'd say Judaism. Just about all the core values I have as a Christian I received ultimately from Judaism -- faith in a loving, personal God who is concerned with concrete human history, who places himself on the side of the widows, the orphans, and the poor, who established the world in freedom and is leading it to redemption.

religion only creates animosity in people. I don't have a religion, and I don't believe that any religion is the "best" religion
