Don't buy a Eureka they have recurring problems. Try the new Dirt Devils or even better the Oreck.
Oreck is a bit more expensive but the Dirt Devil runs about $80.00 bucks tops, nice and light too!

Not sure of price, but, I guess Hoover may be cheap. Here where I live there this Store called "1/2 of 1/2" I think that correct. My Mother bought a NEW Vacuum for $45. It was a Hoover and does what she needs. I had to go on-line to get the Owners Manual as it was missing. BUT, this type store only have this stuff as they Receive it, so, you just have to check if there one where you live. BUT, for the money it not hurt to look.
My woman friend have an Oreck, it light and works good. She has had it many years. But, I think these sell for about $200-300 not sure. It going to be hard to find a Really Good Dependable Vacuum for under $100.

If you buy a vacuum for under 100.00.........you pretty much get what you pay for. One that does not really pick up dirt, just moves it around. I think we have spent $1000 or more on cheap vacuums. We finally bit the bullet and bought a Dyson. All my carpets look brand new. It's amazing. For the first week I vacuumed every day and more crud just kept coming out of my "clean" carpet. Now, I know it's really clean.

forget the $100 unless you want to buy one every year or less. I went through 4 in four years back in the 90's. Then I got a Rainbow for $1500. I still have it and it still works!

Get an Oreck! It does do the job and it's light enough to do the stairs. Dirt Devil is just as good. They are worth every penny and any vacuum repair can maintain them.

We have an Oreck...and while all a vacuum has to do is SUCK, this one is pretty nice. Great sucking power, long cord and you can lower it parallel to the ground to get under tables.
