Our IT Dept. is trying to see if there is a way to run a disk defrag on computers by using the network servers and prompting the computers/laptops to perform the procedure without having to manually go to all the machines to run the program. want to be able to do it form the servers and network

I think you can do things like that using Laplink.. or..another program.. PC Remote?

you could probably script a VNC server

agreed. vnc is the simplest way to go.
