Vampires exist......non of the fictional crap is true......Vamprism is a condition you are born with....

Vampirism stems from a lack of Prana, or life force energy. The Vampire cannot produce enough to survive. Very similar to the diabetic who cannot produce enough insulin, the Vampire must get it elsewhere. Fortunately for the diabetic, science has investigated this condition and came up with an alternate source of the life sustaining insulin. The Vampire, on the other hand, has no such luck. In fact, science still does not recognize the condition. (but, that is changing) The Vampire must find the energy needed to maintain life, or simply suffer and die.
There are several sources of Prana. Each with it’s own advantages, and disadvantages. I will discuss several of these pointing out the pros and cons of each.
First, so as not to disappoint those knowing it is coming, is human blood taken directly from a living donor. Notice I used the word donor as opposed to victim. I will elaborate on this later.
The Pranic energy found in human blood is the purest, easiest to process, and the longest lasting form of energy. Only a small amount of blood is needed for even the most starved vampire. No more than a mouthful or two. The body rejects any additional amount as too sweet. This rejection is usually violent, and due to the nature of blood, quite messy as well. The Vampire that can only process blood energy is the most common, and the most prone to behavior that is very self destructive and also prone to mental disorders caused by the thirst, and also caused by steps that the afflicted feel they have to take in order to feed. Many tend to graduate to other feeding methods as they become known and are practiced. The most common source of feeding for the Sanguine vampire, or blood Vampire, is through that of a willing donor. Someone with whom the vampire has developed a relationship, has revealed their nature, and allows the vampire to occasionally feed upon them. This is rarely done through a bite, as a bite is very painful, and tends to leave nasty scars. Not to mention that a bite is quite dangerous due to the bacteria in the mouth. The most used method uses a sterile blade, or a lancet to make a wound on the donor where the vampire then sucks or laps the blood. This is a very intimate relationship in most cases. Donors are protected and treated as a family member, or significant other. Many marriages have come about from a vampire donor relationship. Donors of course must be medically screened, as vampires are in no way immune to the diseases that lurk in blood. It is common for a vampire to become very well versed in bloodborne pathogens.
Unfortunately there are always the exceptions to standard practices. Attacks do happen, usually by the newly awakened and weak willed. These vampires usually don’t last long, as they are often incarcerated and/or killed as a direct result of this type of feeding. The days of a “victim” of a vampire attack are just about to an end. This is a prime reason the vampire community has become so available and so obvious to the newly awakened. In most houses, a standing rule is to assist where possible in the awakening process when the beacon is noticed. Again, I will address the issue of awakening and the beacon at a later time.
The next source of Pranic energy commonly used by the Vampire, is found in semen and also in the fluid expelled during the female orgasm. (For those lucky enough to know a woman that actually expels a significant amount of fluid. This represents the next easiest processed form of Pranic energy available. Not to be confused with sexual energy, this is solely for what is found in the fluid itself. Similar to blood, the Pranic energy found thusly is very easy for the vampire to process. It is also much easier to come by as who don’t want their partner to perform oral sex on them. This is a big reason that most vampires are not only very sexual, but will spend more time and energy with oral sex than with intercourse. This is also why many Vampires will claim to be bisexual, even when they are only after the Prana. Same sex oral sex is far more commonly found and indulged in than the typical heterosexual relationship. This type of feeding often leads the Vampire to many failed relationships due to sexual misconduct and often times to sexual addiction. This also leads to sexually transmitted diseases and a host of other issues caused by the wanton need for casual sexual relationships.
Sexual energy itself is the next energy source the Vampire may feed upon. Often this type of Vampire is termed an Incubus (male) or Succubus (female) after legendary demons that prey upon sexual energy. Most people know that a tremendous amount of energy is generated during sex. The stronger the relationship, the better the energy. Yet, pure animal sex is a very strong source of prana. This is another feeding type that tends to get the typical Vampire in all sorts of trouble. Similar to the problems associated with sexual fluid feeding, this energy type has the advantage of being safer, as even protected sex still generates a useable form of energy. This however is the first level of what is known as psi, psychic or psionic feeding. No body fluids must be exchanged, but the intimate contact is still necessary. More energy can be created through role-play, bondage, S&M games etc, therefore bringing the Vampire eventually down these roads as well. There are a large number of Vampires in the sexual underground community and many of them do not even realize that it is their very nature that has drawn them to their chosen lifestyle. It is a very shocking day when a person that has been feeding this way and flourishing finds out what it is all about.
Psi energy can also be gained by casual contact. You might know that one touchy feely person in your acquaintance. The one who always has to put an arm over your shoulder, or shake hands many times a day or any other excuse for skin-to-skin contact. Not always, but chances are that this person is a contact psi feeder. If you find yourself feeling drained after prolonged contact or this person seems to be getting more charged from his or her contact with others, chances are you have met a psi Vampire. This person, like others may not be aware that this is what the case is. Vampires are born, not made, and many are born psi feeders and through their upbringing, they are used to lots of physical contact, and know they feel better for, so find no reason to change. Many, however, are Vampires that have learned the psi feed and target certain people based on their aura.
The Vampire that can feed without physical contact is in my mind the luckiest of the bunch. This Vampire has the ability to feed themselves by harnessing the energy from a group of people. This is the person who has to be the center of attention, the life of the party, the performer. Anywhere they can have a group of people focusing on them is their feeding ground. Again, those around usually feel drained as a result of the feed, and the Vampire’s presence can usually be linked to these drained times.
Also in this class is the group feeder that don’t need the attention. This is the wallflower, the one sitting alone in a corner table at the pub with an interesting grin and an air that says to the casual observer “leave me alone”. If approached most will simply brush off the contact, and if pressed, may if so inclined focus on the interloper as a source of a direct contact feed, or even be receptive to a pick up and thus feed in any of the above manners. Most that have reached this level of experience and ability can usually use any or all feeding methods.
Another psi feeder that is common is the unconscious feeder. Usually occurring in the newly awakened, or the about to awaken. This type feeds off of those around then by contact, or just by being there. They don’t know that they are actually doing this and can cause several problems. This is more often than not the reason why newly awakening vampires are “loners” or have problems with relationships. Those around get physically exhausted neat the vampire in this stage.
The rarest form of feeding I have encountered is the simple contact feed. This, I still am in doubt of, but I have been assured by several now that it indeed works. This is accomplished by any simple contact. The internet being the main source. I have been in communication with a fellow Vampire that swears that she can feed to blissful excess by simply joining a chat room, assuming a persona that garners attention, and chatting away across countless miles. This is a very desirable feeding method and is very rare.
Now that the feeding is taken care of, lets get on with some of the other vampire hype. First to dispel the Hollywood myths of what a vampire is and is not. Vampires are human, mortal, and quite real. We are not any stronger, unless we work out a lot, or genetically predisposed to strength. (Just like everyone else!). We just don’t seem to have to work as hard ans the next guy. We do cast reflections in mirrors. We cannot fly; change into bats, smoke or any of that. We do not, as a rule, sleep in coffins. However, many within the community, choose to do so. Why? Why not? Just like anyone else, we have our quirks and eccentricities as well. We are not immortal. Well, at least our bodies are not. We do believe that our soul, spirit, or what ever term your tradition uses for the life force, is indeed immortal and we are born again and again to new and different lives to experience all. Holy water will not hurt us. (Unless you drown us in it) wooden stakes through the heart will not only kill us, but you too. Crucifixes etc, will not harm us. Me, I am a Pagan and have no use for the things anyway. What would they do to a catholic vampire that has just awakened? I guess that would depend on their belief system, and the power raised by that belief. We are not evil as a whole. There are evil Vampires, as there are evil people.
Do we burst into flames at the sight of the sun? Are we cursed to always walk in darkness? No. Just simply no. We do not. We do, as a group, tend to be very sensitive to the sun. Most of us burn easily and have no tolerance for any time in the direct sunlight. This is directly caused by the sun’s ability to sap the energy from us. I personally know many people who simply love the sun, feel charged by spending as much time as possible in the sun, and sunbathers by the score. I personally cannot tolerate the sun, if in the direct sun for any length of time, I become very lethargic and very grumpy. This is usually followed by the onset of severe migraines. This is common to many vampires and is pretty basic. Some however, have built up a tolerance, and many believe that if you have fed well recently, the sun will have less of a negative effect. I have found that a constant psi feed will get me through the day. I simply open myself for any and all energy I can as it comes my way. There are issues with this as well, but it gets me through the day. I happen to serve in the military and time in the sun is rather unavoidable. I am of a rank where I can limit my time in the sun, but you can only avoid it so much.

Can anyone become a vampire? The answer is to that is, no. Vampires are born, as we are, not made. The life energy that we are given at birth from our mothers sustains us through, in most cases, puberty. Sometimes beyond, sometimes before, but the awakening usually happens at or about the time a person becomes sexually active.
When this awakening is ready to proceed, the emerging Vampire will emit a “beacon” usually noticeable by other Vampires of the same ilk in the vicinity. I personally notice it through the aura of an individual. Also the energy that the individual possesses is unstable and disjointed and of a quality to attract the attention of even the most cynical psi feeder. This beacon will attract the Vampire to one who has, or is about to awaken. Common in most houses, as I have mentioned before is the rule that we should assist our fellows when we see the beacon. That is my book is primarily due to the fact that the self awakened vampire that does not have some help runs the risk of a mental breakdown and a host of other problems.
The approach to one who is displaying the beacon, is quite interesting in itself. I have recently assisted in one case where the individual in question thought the she was loosing her mind, and was nearing suicide. Upon listening to me, she is now a very happy vampire. Living and loving her new found life. She was a bit skeptical at first, but as I told her more, it all fit and she realized that I was right.

I know this is bit long winded, but it is also very incomplete. I am very willing to delve further into this, and will upon request. I am here seeking knowledge as well as to share it. I by no means claim my views are “the one true way”. As I said at the beginning of this, this is MY take.

My recent experiences have colored my worldview differently and I am here to help, and teach. As well as to be helped and be taught.

Yours in the dark…..

vampires are not real. Some people really do pretend to be vampires. But no, of course vampires are not really real! Your roomate is silly. They probably just want life to be a little more interesting than it is. They should take up a hobby.

By definition, a vampire is "a person, such as an extortionist, who preys upon others." There have always been plenty of those around.

But in the sense to which you're most likely referring... no.

Not the only out and night scared of crosses kind. there are kind of cult groups that drink blood and consider themselves vampires, not the same but close enough i guess. If they were real i would so want bitten, who doesnt want to live forever? although the blood thing would suck since the thought of having to drink it makes me sick. X(

I don't think they exist, but I believe there are people out there that try to live out the fantasy. :) There was an interesting CSI show about it once. :) Vampires are kinda sexy.

No, they don't exist. They belong in the realms of pixies, dragons, elves and fairy godmothers. If they exist surely someone would have captured them on video by now!

No but there are at least about 40,000 teens who think they are. When you ask why they don't drink blood to survive, they'll say they're psychic vampires.

If they are real, we would all have known by now. There would have been a lot of suspicious deaths with bite marks on the neck and have you ever heard of even one?
