Um, I don't think I suggested that this was the only thing in the world I'm bugged by.

And, um, what the heck does eating Chinese food have to do with it?

I'm not suggesting you have to be "from" that country--a "connection" can be through a common language, friends, etc.

I see the World Cup as a national competition, more about the country than the team. Like the Eurovision, except good. And totally unrelated to the players' "day jobs" on whichever team they're on.

No. When your home team is not playing you naturally pick a favorite. It could be because you have some affiliation to that other Country or just because you enjoy their game. I'm Portuguese and when we are not in the finals I like Brazil (we used to be the same country and speak the same language), but I've also picked other teams, like Argentina in 1986 or France in 1998 because they played a beautiful game.

Of course not, what do you think us Canadians are gonna do! I'm definitely a patriot and cheer for all of Canada's team religiously. But our soccer team is pretty pitiful and it's sad to see because I know we have a lot of great footballers here in Canada! It's the beautiful sport and if you don't watch it you need to and if you watch it you need to have a team so you can enjoy the drama.

Yes, many fans are bandwagon fans and that really pisses me off when people say they are fans and probably can't even name 3 players on the team.

It doesn't bother me at all, anyone can pick and choose the team they like. You don't have to be from that country to like their team.

No it just shows they appriciate good football and know a good team when they see one. As much as it pains me to admit it, the Brazilians kick ***.
