That is a difficult situation to be in, but not impossible. The first thing to do is get a resume together that highlights your education and skills. Next, I would get registered with employment services in the area - you will have to fill out some paperwork and do NOT lie about your mistake. They will tell you right away if they can help you or not. Then, put your resume online at Hotjobs or Monster or something like that to see if that helps. You should probably also go to the local Uemployment Office and ask if there are any programs to help people find work; lots of times there are and they will work with you to get employed. Finally, remember that many times, it is not what you know, but who you know. Be friendly and do not burn any bridges. Someone out there who knows you will be more likely to give you a chance. Finally, be prepared to be humbled. You are going to have to eat crow for a little while until this becomes a more distant mistake for you. There is, unfortunately, something that is going to always be a part of your life.
The only reason I feel I can give any advice at all on this one is because I was married to someone who had the same issue, and he ended up getting a job as a purchasing agent for a manufacturing firm. However, it took a long long time and he had to be peristent, patient, and professional about it.
Good Luck to you!

You CAN get a good job. Sometimes, you might have to work 3 part time jobs until ONE good paying job comes along.
DON'T WHINE.
Deliver newspapers in the morning, waiting tables in the evening.
Work as many small, part time jobs as you can. But do NOT whine about your conviction. You are a felon. So what. There are MILLIONS of former convicts out in the world making a good living.
Suck it up. You are NOT a victim, now. You once were a trouble-maker, but that should be behind you.
GET TO WORK

Being an ex-felon, alot of people DO NOT want to hire, someone of that nature. Rebuild your life, get into church become a good role model for children who are doing what you did the first time you were caught and sent to prison or jail time.Be a spokes person, then the community will see your trying to do something with your life.

I think if a felon has paid their dues to society, there should be no problem. But we all know that isn't the way it is.
A possible solution would be to start their own business. Then they go into it with a fresh slate and no one needs to know anything about their past...just their future!
If this person is open to trying something new that is fun and very rewarding, I would be happy to lead the way.

depending on your state in which you live there are many resorces to finding a job even with a felony. with some companys it depends on the felony in which you have had. you may want to check with your local unemployment office to see what may be available for you and you dont have to be on unemployment to receive there services. another way to go may be through a temporary agency or staffing company they may start you off with temporary work that may become permanant after you have been employed with them for awhile. even check with the department of parole in your area to see if they know of any resorces for you. i live in a small town and sometimes if your nice and sincere (cry the blues) parole will help or maybe they even know of more resorces for you. good luck
