PET or PETE plastic is recyclable from home. There are literally tens of thousands of types of plastics. PET plastics have a "1" recycling code on the bottom of them. It's resins are the most desired for making products out of recycled plastic.

Pet bottles are also plastic bottles but safe to keep food item, while other plastic bottles give bad odor and not safe to keep food item.

pet is a form of plastic. PolyEthylene Terephthalate. It is just well suited for bottles and other containers because of its physical characteristics such as durability and being a good moisture barrier. Other forms of plastic such as PVC, polyvinyl chloride, have properties better suited to plumbing.

PET is manly used for food and beverages containers industry. It is moisture barrier. mold on 110 temperature, recyclable and light in weight. PET containers provide a better oxygen barrier than PP containers, they can preserve the taste and the aroma of food placed in them, but PP containers provide a better barrier to moisture as well as alcohol or chemicals. Both PET and PP containers work well to resist acids or grease and oils. PET's MVTR is very low then other resins. It is durable and very good in clarity. .

PET is a type of plastic so there is not difference really. it's all in what properties you want it to have and how long you want it to last.
