I personally took my son on a train ride 2hrs away when he was three days old. It was just fine he didn't seem to notice. He sleep alot and I fed and changed him on the train. My son was only 5lbs when he was born. I don't think you will stress your baby out as long as you don't stress out. Good Luck and have a safe trip. Pack for any and everything.

I have had four children and would never have dreamt of travelling like that with them when they were 4 days old. If you were driving all the way then maybe but not on a train. I know baby's can sleep for up to 4 hours at any one time but you cant plan the train times like that. Your train may be due to depart when your baby needs feeding. Anyway if the people you are going to show your baby to were that keen they would travel to see you instead of expecting you to go to them. A four day old baby will not be in a full routine to be able to gauge the feeding pattern. How ever all that aside i know just how much you want every one to see your baby. Its the most precious gift ever and you get a feeling like you will never experience through any other way in your whole life. The main thing to do is what YOU want and what you feel comfortable doing.

I definitely wold not take them on a train/car for 2 hours in this weather, it's far too hot and the very young are in the most danger. My son had a fit in a train a few years ago because he got too hot and he was nearly 18 months old at that point!
If you don't feel comfortable about doing it then don't. Can't the people you are going to see come and see you? 4 days is very young.

Hi - your baby is designed to be "out" in the world whenever she is born.... providing your baby is fit and healthy wasn't premature then its ok to be outside with her.
Feed her before you go out and change her and make sure you leave plenty of time for your journey so you are not rushing around.
Take an extra feed, change of clothes, spare nappies and have fun!!! Dress her appropriately for the weather and make sure you take a pushchair or a sling to transport her around.
Travel outside of peak hours, that way you should get a seat on the train.
If you're tired, then don't overdo it, you may not feel like taking the trip, the baby really won't mind.
Like I said, go and have fun with your baby!

Relax and go for it! Babies cope with most things and being so small you can feed/change etc wherever you are. Even in a car. But if you're in the car and the baby needs feeding and changing then pull over for safety's sake. Always change before starting out. Feed if food is demanded.
Easy if you are relaxed. Baby will just fit in with you.
Good luck.

Hi, both my children where out and about at 2 days old, I think if you just make sure you are not surrounded by smoke then the baby will be ok. the baby builds up an immune system while you are carrying them
good luck

i would be sure you start out with a fresh diaper, a full tummy and she'll probably sleep the whole time and then, be bright-eyed for the relatives.
yes, at her young age, she is fairly vulnerable to airborne illnesses, like colds and germs spread by sneezes, etc.... but, i wouldn't fret too much. it's not flu season right now and if you are breastfeeding then she is fairly protected by your antibodies. nursing moms pass on their antibodies in the breastmilk, which helps protect their babies from many illnesses.
i would ask your pediatrician to be on the safe side, b/c there could be something that i or anyone on here may not be thinking of or know about you and your little bird.
i, personally, would take the trip, but i would check with my r. first.
take care!

Your only talking 2 hours. She/He will probably sleep the whole way. Make sure they are in comfy clothing (nothing hot as its summer) before you go. Also make sure that you can get into those clothes easily since you are traveling. I have 2 children that since they were born have hardley ever seen our home we are so busy. Your baby will be fine.

Oh you will be fine! Don't stress about things like that, she will most likely sleep the whole time.
Babies are far more transportable than older children so enjoy your feedom for the time that she does fit into her rear facing car seat!

I have a friend from another culture. She said a baby can't leave the home until at least one month, but I never heard of that in my culture.
