My son is 6 months old and over 20 lbs. He's very long. I can't afford a brittax, btw.

it is important for you to check your car's handbook to see what carseat they reccommend for your make and model of car.

Any car seat is fine and it depends on what you want. I have 4 kids and we have used evenflo the most of all. They are about $50 for each. Now, I have 2 kids, a 4 year old and 3 year old) that are in convertible car seats. Both of them are Costco. The older one is in a seat that uses the car seat belt not ones on his seat. The baby is in a seat the has a 5-point harness. It can be used from 20-80 lbs and converted to a seat that uses the car seat belts. When you go to the store, just look for seats that say whatever weight you are looking for. You don't have to spend a lot of money on them to get good quality. I had a friend that bought the Eddie Bauer car seat and spent $125 on it and within 2-3 months it was trashed.

You can also call your insurance company and ask them which one they think is the best. Not all companies do that, but what will it hurt. You could go to the Consumer Reports website and look up the comparisons of the different seats. Call your pediatricians office and they will tell you what you should get.

Whatever you do, he still needs to be facing backwards until he's 1.

The carseat I'm going to recommend is pricier than $150, but you won't regret it. It's the Cosco Alpha and Omega. It goes from 5 lb to 40 lb. From rear facing to forward facing then converts to a booster seat. I loved it so much after my first baby who is now 5 and using that same seat as a booster, I bought a second during my next pregnancy that my 2 year old is using.

Also the straps adjust without taking the seat out of the vehicle....this comes in handy when you go from heavy winter coats to spring coats to no coat, than back to a winter coat for a day or two like we do where we live.

Toys R Us or Cosco should pay me a commission!! lol...I've sold many of these carseats while I was shopping at Toys R Us.

You could afford a britax if you went to ebay or somewhere like that! THEY ARE WORTH YOUR CHILDS LIFE! Did you know they are tested at a higher MPH in a car than any other carseat... so they are way more safer! BUT... there is some information on the website www.nhtsa.com

I was just looking into this and there is a costco car seat for around $90 at walmart. It supports from 5 lbs to 80lbs or 100lbs...it was the best value and totaly convertable. It should work great, my daughter is just about to make the switch. Just be sure to keep him rear facing as long as you can, it is safer for him and this seat can be a rear facing w/o a problem

I'm getting the Alpha Omega Elite it got good reviews from users and from consumer reports. You may be able to find it at a lower price. I don't recommend getting one from eBay, you may not know for sure if they were in a car accident, and of course you know that the manufactures recommend that every car seat that has been through an accident needs to be replaced.

We just bought an Eddie Bauer car seat. Regular price is about $200.00. We found it for $99.00. Hunt around.

It is a three in one. It sits backwards until they are a year old. Then you turn it around and after that it changes into a booster seat.

Our daugther is 8 months old, and 28 inches long. She was busting out of the original car seat we had for her.

Alpha Omega Elite is a good one. We have one for our child. It is like having 3 in one.. it goes up to 100lbs. I think ours was $160, but it's worth it since you don't have to buy any other seat.
