I cant understand this . In some states you can buy a gun in a shop at the age of 17. Yet you have to be 21 to buy alcohol. You Americans are clearly insane. Guns are for killing people with. Nothing else. Why sell them in shops.

You are a dumb *** as guns are used for hunting and many other purposes not just killing people. The only people using guns against other people are criminals and they did not buy there gun at a shop. they get them in back alleys and illegal dealers. Most states you must be 21 to buy a hand gun and 18 to buy shotguns. Please do some research before making a statement like that.

Actually, guns are for hunting (that is, putting food on the table); self defense (no explanation needed), and protection (as from wild animals--see 'self-defense' above).

To answer your question, why are Americans obsessed with guns:

By gunpowder & steel (guns) America was taken from the Native Americans. The West was won with a gun, do you see the pattern?

Is it any wonder that Americans are obsessed with guns. Used responsibly it is not a bad thing!

Why do non-americans generalize so much??

The majority of Americans hate guns and have nothing to do with the laws made that govern the sale of them. Guns belong only to police and should not be made available to the general public. I know ALOT of people and none of them own a gun.

Because it's better than being obsessed with female anatomy. Why are you foreigners obsessing about us owning firearms. We may be concerned with your marxist leanings but we figure you have the right towards self-determination, so we expect the same from you.

Most of us gun owners also hunt for food. I don't want to hunt with a knife. We have had mountain lion attacks I don't want to fight off a wild animal with a knife, let alone my barehands.

The differing gun laws are provided for in our constitution.

If you don't like it don't try to sneak across the Canadian border and you won't have a problem.

Guns are for protection and hunting game not just for killing people and like any other weapon it should be treated with respect. You have the freedom to have and carry guns and be able to protect yourself and family from harm. Many countries don't have that privilege for example some years ago Australia outlawed citizens from owning Firearms,Crime rate Immediately Sky rocketed!

Guns are a necessity where I live.

I live in the country. Coyotes frequent the area, I have chickens, guineas, geese, and ducks. We do loose poultry to these scoundrels occasionally.....and occasionally we get them before they kill our poultry.

There are also poisonous snakes in Texas. I have grandchildren and when we see these poisonous snakes near the house...they go to snakie heaven.

People also burglarize houses. No matter what language a person speaks----racking a shotgun is understood universally. You don't have to shoot anyone---they get the idea... and haul *SS

We've also encountered problems with rabid skunks..those we shoot too.

During hunting season----my son-in-laws hunt deer.Deer meat is delicious.

Guns have many uses---and I haven't shot anyone yet LOL!

Guns are for killing things, including birds, deer, and other sorts of crap that people like to kill. They're also good for stopping criminals. If one breaks into your house and you shoot at them, they won't be coming back. Also, I'd rather have them sold in shops, where the buyer can be identified with their particular gun they bought, than have guns just randomly sold on the black market to anybody who wants one.

I the hundreds of years of weapons as yet there has been not one death by the weapon itself be it a knife or a gun.
It is the person that is in control and not the object.
A gun is just a well machined piece of metal it has no life and has no brine and It CAN NOT KILL
it might be better if we outlawed people that outlaw guns.

Dont generalize ALL AMERICANS. Not all americans are obsessed with guns, its a small minority of people who make up this country who are obsessed with guns. Most Americans are in favor of gun control.
