I am 20 I work full time and go to school full time.
I wanted to finish my last two years out of town, and take some time off from working. This should be coming in less than a year. I live on my own. Parents help is not an option, they are in enough financial trouble. I thought I had it under control. Until my car broke down and now need a new transmission. Now I am digging in to my savings. Rent is $400. I paid off my insurance for the next year. I got to pay $1000 for school. I spend $100 in gas a month. Food is fixable. I make $1500 a month. I am I think financially wise for my age.Your money advice is not wasted on me. Thanks.

Can you go to the school where you attend full time and ask them for financial assistance? Usually they have a special little fund that they don't tell anyone about for people in your situation. It'll probably require you to write a letter and spell out exactly what you spend and what you earn. People who make a serious effort usually get the help they need.
Another option might be to ask the school for an additional loan. Check with the financial aid office. There may be grants available. Also, ask them about scholarship programs from private companies in your area.
Also ask them for a list of non-profit organisations that help people like yourself.

I am in the same boat but a few years older. My only option is to replace my tranny myself. Are you mechanically inclined? Oh yeah, find a better paying job. Its the only way. What about student loans?
