I guess we will have to wait and see. This is what happens to most artists specially young, after they get married and have children, people start loosing interest in them. Now if you have real talent then you will be able to make it. I mean Christina Aguilera is married but I mean her voice and britneys spears you dont even compare them, she also knows how to dance and is beautiful. Britney on the other hand cand dance but does not have the Voice Christina does. She will probably come back but she wont be like the big time artist that she used to be.

That is making the assumption that she was ever an artist to begin with.
But to seriously attempt to answer your question, why is it bad for a singer to change his/her audience or change with his/her audience. Madonna had done it, several times. The Green Day of today is vastly different from the Green Day of 15 years ago. And look at Gwen Stefani: No Doubt started as a little ska/punk band, morphed into a pop rock band, and now she is doing solo pop music with other singers. So yes, if Britney continued to release music that only catered to a certain age group, no matter how old she got, then at some point she would be ignored. But if she changed her music as she changed, yes she would lose fans that don't like where she has gone, but chances are in her favor that she would also gain new fans who appreciate the change.
Yes to the second question also, because there will always be better and more serious artists around, but that is the interesting thing about music and other arts: it is completely subjective. What you may find beautiful, i might find hideous. And what is pleasing to my ears could make yours bleed.
Has she become an entertain sideshow? That I don't have an opinion on because it is very hard to distinguish between what her life is really like and what the tabloid media makes it out to be to sell magazines and newspapers.

Brittney Spears was never a true artist. She was a product of Disney and music corporations. She has no musical talent, a faulty vocal range, and she's no longer capable of being a teen icon. The ones of the teen-dream era of the late 90's early 2000's that will succeed are those that have amazing voices and grow with their audience or attempt to appeal to a wider variety, such as Christina Aguilera. Note that she is working on or has recently released a more classic, stands the test of time type of album that will show people how beautiful her voice can be.
As for the side show idea. I think so, and I pity her. I never cared for her music (Aguilera's either), but just because she is famous doesn't give the press and others the right to constantly challenge her parenting. Yes, she's done some stupid crap, but the almost dropping the baby. What new mother hasn't had her hands full while trying to carry the baby and slipped and almost dropped the kid? I don't know anyone, even my Grandma admitted to having that problem at least once when she had her first baby.

It sure would seem like her "breakthrough artist" days are over. The only thing I can see reviving her career (and her image) is if she dumps K-Fed, loses some weight, proves she can take care of her kids, and finds an awesome new man. But even that wouldn't make her a superstar anymore, since most people don't think married women with 2 kids are sexy superstars. Maybe that's not fair, but that's the way it is. The best she could hope for, even in that situation, is to either have a standing show in Vegas (which she is talking about doing,) or to become more of a serious, folksy singer to capture her previous fans who are maybe a little more grown-up now and not necessarily viewing her as a sex symbol any longer. I don't think she has an image of being intelligent enough or strong enough to pull a Madonna for the next 30 years.

While I think she's put her career on hold right now for her family, I don't think we've seen the last of her, or her hits. In today's music, having talent isn't the only thing that makes you climb the charts. I don't think she's got the absolute best voice out there, but if you're releasing songs with a good beat, background vocals, etc., people are going to like it.

Yup, she's done. Even if she does come back everyone would realize that she has always been a bad singer. Marrying Kevin Federline was the worse career move ever! She's so annoying but so is her sister Jamie.

Does it matter? She has all kinds of money, a husband, and her beautiful children...maybe she would like to just stay home and take care of her kids. She has the option to make her life whatever she would like it to be. Lucky woman.

I don't think so. If she manages to concentrate enough on her music, I am sure she will back into the reckoning again...
