Body and mind are not as separate as some philosophies and religions would have us believe. Emotions are a combination of mental and physical. Chemicals and hormones are pumped into our blood if we think about the person that we love or if our mind comes across some other emotional trigger like something we are afraid of. The chemicals (depending on the emotion) may cause our heart to race, our breathing to become shallow, or have us break out in a sweat. They may also make our blood vessels relax, slow our breathing and drop our heart rate.

The reverse is also possible e.g. you were feeling down a little while ago and the 'down' chemicals are still in your blood stream so you may still feel down even though there is no external stimulation to make you feel that way. People who suffer from things like depression sometimes can't clear the 'down' chemicals out of their systems which is why medicines such as Prozac are able to help restore their chemical balance.

Likewise, if you are feeling happy early in the day for, instance if you saw a friend in the street, the happy feeling is likely to stay with you for a while because all the endorphins and things are still in your blood.

Mind and body are one. Modern medicine is catching on to this fact and people suffering from depression are often advised to start making their bodies healthy to help their emotional state i.e. eating properly and exercising.

True Love is not an emotion. True Love is an action. It means that you would willingly sacrifice your own interests for the interests of the one you love no matter what the cost. Feelings are fickle they come and they go, but true love is solid and unchanging. You can love someone and be angry at them at the same time.

Parents - You can understand this when dealing with your kids when they have done something wrong. You are angry or disappointed, but you still love them all the same.

People say that love is an emotion so that they don't have to own up to the responsibility of actually LOVING someone.

Well think about it you just answered your own question... Emotions are feelings right... So when you're happy, what are you usually doing??? smilying right!!! And when your sad??? You're usually frowning right!!! Well like Michael L just stated above, All emotions carry physical responses. Well it's the same thing here... When you're in love, you feel different, but weird at the same time... Like you got all these emotions running through you... And it's making you crazy... But in a good way... causing butterfulies in your tummy... Or another example would be when you're nervous... You usually swet...

Love isn't the only emotion that affects us physically. Greif and happiness does as well. Our brains process the emotion and trigger what it thinks is the correct physical response in the body. The butterflies are short burst of adrenaline, isn't it great?? It is the subconcious minds way of telling us we are excited about what we see...LOL

Love effects us physically mainly because you feel HAPPY when your around the person you love so you are naturally EXCITED and can't wait to see them again. Butterfly's in the tummy though usually come when something new is happening and usually don't last. Although it would be nice if they did.

Any emotion that you feel strongly has physical symptoms. Anger can make you get tunnel vision and give you muscle aches. Fear makes your heart race and your muscles tense. They have done studies recently that depression actually has physical symptoms like aches and pains (see source). By these rules, emotional love is going to have some physical sensations as well.

Love is really not an emotion its an action verb. You can say I love you but you can't really say I sad you or I happy you. People forget this because so many emotions get tied up in love, which is why you get that feeling in you.

As i know emotion comes from heart, same time all the blood comes to heart and is pumped back. So all your body knows what is in the heart. Thus all your body wants to share the pain or gain as we want it to sustain.
