The first thing anyone should put on is confidence! If you are confident in yourself, your clothing runs a far, far second in dating appeal.
However, to give you a more practical answer... What type of person are you? What type of person are you trying to attract? To offer up a couple of ridiculous stereotypical scenerios.... If you are a NASCAR race fan who is a simple, good hearted person, who likes a comfortably casual home and a good dependable Ford or Chevy... dressing up in a suit and attending conferences in a rented BMW will only get you a CEO wife and you would be miserable.
If you are a CEO who likes your Borolo wines (or single malt scotch), drive a Mercedes, think dress casual means loosen the tie, and have marble floors and gilt mirrors throughout your estate, then maybe the jeans and short sleeve plaid look isn't for you.
In short, be yourself. Be neat, clean, engaging, have a great sense of humour, listen to the person you are with, and remember the late Ann Landers best piece of advice (so far as I am concerned)... "A person who is nice to you, but not nice to the waiter... is not a nice person." Be a nice person and look for one yourself. Like does attract like, you know.

if you are really concerned with clothing, try a stylist, they can show you what looks best on you. But my guess is that it is not the clothing that is hurting your 'game' it is probably the fact that you are Steve Austin look-a-like, 6'5", 250lbs that is going to intimidate people. Try just being nice and approachable. that should help. Good luck

Clothing styles may not improve your dating frequency, but hanging out with more intelligent people will. Most people are not happy with the way they look, however people who look beyond the outer layer of a person will be more fun to be around than a beautiful stick in the mud anyway.
Good Luck and don't be afraid to ask out someone you think in absolutely gorgeous either, they maybe haven't had a real date in a long time because people are afraid to ask.

Wear Stone Cold Steve Austin stuff, then rip it when you meet a girl. She'll think you're him, and you'll be in business.

Go to a leading department store and ask one of their personal shoppers / style consultants. That's the best way to find out what suits you.

That depends on the woman that you are trying to attract.
>>Business woman, responsible, intelligent: You wear Khakis, button down collar shirt (something with a colorful pop), nice belt to match your shoes (black belt, black shoes/ or brown and brown) with a soft cologne.
>>Wilder type, no strings attached, wild flower: Black pants, silk shirt or leather vest, boots, bandana, cut off t-shirt with a strong cologne.
