PET, also known as PolyEthylene Terephthalate, is a thermoset plastic resin. What that means is that it can not be reused in making molded plastic products. Thermoset molecules crosslink with each other during processing. Once this is done it can not be undone. However, thermoplastic plastic resins are capable of being ground up and remolded. Those materials do not crosslink and can be reused over and over again, to a certain point. Examples of thermoplastic resins are PP, PS, PE, etc.
