I personally don't think its worth changing the Constitution of the United States of America for something that happens less than one time a year on average (a total of 12 times since the 1989 Supreme Court decision).
The flag is a symbol. The Constitution is the document on which this nation is founded. Alter one brick in the foundation and the nation itself becomes weaker.
The Flag Burning Amendment would be the only Amendment in the Constitution that places a restriction directly on the First Amendment right to freedom of expression.
Passing such an Amendment only weakens the very freedoms the flag symbolizes. The flag is much more than a piece of fabric. It goes much deeper than that. Try as they might, protesters can only burn the fabric. Changing the Constitution would burn the deeper things the flag symbolizes.
NOTE TO ASKER:
Your note only degrades your point. The Constitutional Amendment you support would catch terrorists about as effectively as a mosquito net.
And a mosquito net has slightly fewer holes than your argument.
Come back when you can make an intelligent point and I'll continue the discussion. Otherwise, try reading a book or two and learning how to play this little game a little better.
You're dismissed.

No this was political BS.
Flag burning is not a problem in the US. However, things like the poverty gap, health care, welfare, the infant mortality rate, gangs, corporate corruption, oil company racketeering, illegal wire tapping, the Patriot act, the war and education are all real issues.
What I want to see is our politicians doing some real work and addressing the real issues in this country. This fake patriotism over a flag when our veterans are being denied health care and benefits they should be entitled to is quite obscene.
So let's not put people in jail for burning a flag. Let's instead do something really patriotic. Let's support our troops by giving them the right equipment, good pay, good working conditions, and help for any health problems the military causes them after they leave. Hey, let's even give them a free uniform!

No, the flag stands for freedom, and the amendment takes away what it stands for.
I am totally against flag burning , but this is still about freedom, like it or not !

Hell no!!! It's a freedom of speech. I may not agree with burning the flag but I respect that it's their right as a human being to be able to express themselves in any manner they see fit.
I take more offense to someone wearing the flag as underwear or clothes. I guess it's okay to have some dookie stains or ketchup stains on the American Flag but god forbid you burn it.
The hypocricy of the right has no limitations.

No. I don't care for flag burning, but when it comes down to it, it is just a piece of cloth.
Compare that to all the issues that congress needs to give its attention to. Flag burning isn't worth more than solving life and death issues that they should be working on but aren't.
