Assuming he has yours (or knows how to contact you), I'd wait until he calls you. If he doesnt, then accept that his life has moved on so far, that he's not interested in furthering the friendship anymore.

If you were close friends, one would imagine he'd have your number on his cellphone or at least knows your address or last name, to be able to write to you instead?

Leave the ball in his court...its often harder on the person left behind than the one who is venturing to new fields, as they are still holding on and have no new memories yet to fill the gap.

If he misses you he'll find a way but remember that he probably knew for quite a while that he was leaving and so prepared himself for that loss ages ago. If he's never coming back (and knows you wont be moving there)....he might not feel that there is a good reason to continue the friendship now?
