I have been more than a witness, i have been a Victim. I did nothing. And am still upset that i couldnt do anything to protect me.
Other people reacted angrily....but could do nothing because of me.

I was playing in a house band one night - this was nearly twenty years ago. In between sets, I walked by the entranceway and into the alcove where the payphone was.

Two guys were arguing, and from what I overheard it had something to do with a woman. Then one guy - it looked this way to me - punched the other guy in the gut, then tore off like a shot. I walked up to the guy who had been left to see if he was alright, since he was clutching his gut.

"He knifed me," He managed to get out.

Nobody around, other than a guitar player I knew, payed any attention - the girls night out chicks in the alcove kept chatting like nothing had happened.

So the guitar player and I got him out to the street, got him into a cab, and we took him to emergency. He was fine.

When I got back to the bar, the bandleader stiffed me twenty bucks on my pay, because I took off to help that guy. It took me a long time to forgive him that.

Two days later, I went to see the stabbing victim in the hospital. He was fine, and in good spirits. Never saw him at the bar again though...

I've seen lots of other stuff, but I remember that one most vividly.

Yes I have been a witness to a beating, and I didn't just sit still. I didn't know who they were but I saw a guy beating up a girl, and I jumped in and tried to get him off of her. Some other guys came and helped. The poor girl had a broken jaw, nose and cheeck bone. I received a black eye and a huge gash over my left eye. (it took 18 stitches to close) I am not a violent person, but I am also not one to sit by and watch someone get hurt.

Other than a shooting, violent girl fight, gang beating or fraternity vs. fraternity fight.....nope I never seen any violence.

Word to the wise...unless you are willing to endue the same punishment that the victim is receiving, then stay out of it and call the police. If the perp turns on you, then now you could be the victim.

I was 17 and this other guy had cut another one's arm with a machete, they were about 25 or so. The wounded guy's friends came around to beat up on the other dude. I didnt do anything because the douche deserved it, and i was gonna probably get beat up with them sticks too. Other people looked the other way or encourage it on.

Yes, i was brutally raped many times. Nothing i could do.. couldn't get away. And didn't do anything after that or tell anyone up until a year ago i told a guy that i really cared about and he made me tell my parents who made me see a shrink and tell her. But nothing's changed... i'm still terrified of everything and everyone. The only thing that has changed is that opening up myself so much to this guy i Love made him think i was crazy and addicted to him so we havn't talked in 264 days : ( And i'm going INSANE!!

Do palestinian attacks count? Y'know, like a bus exploding in the middle of a street leaving 20 people for the vultures and the rest wounded?

About 10 years ago my girlfriend's boyfriend took her at gunpoint and the the police were called, he had taken her driving. A wrecker driver saw him beating her in the truck and the police found them and arrested him, since then he has gotten counseling and is a changed person, they are together now and everything is great. If it wasn't for the counseling for domestic abuse, she would probably be dead. He is truely changed.

I saw a man wailing on his wife. I just froze. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The wife's girlfriend ran over and pushed the husband away. I felt like a coward for not taking any action.
