No it's not legal- the police post fake"dealers" outside places like airports, etc. where tourists come in to the country so they can fine/arrest unwary travelers. Weed isn't-technically-legal there although it is socially accepted and you can get it easily enough, you just have to be careful about who you attempt to buy from. Police also patrol the beaches, etc.- you cannot smoke it in public without risk of being arrested. Your best bet is to ask a taxi driver, waiter, bartender, someone at your hotel if they can "hook you up" if you really want it and just use it in the privacy of your hotel room.
Sorry Its Very Hot- didn't mean to stereotype, you are absolutely correct that not everyone on the island uses it; sorry about that. I am saying, however, it is just relatively easy to get there. I don't use it either but was often "approached" if I wanted to buy any.
