It's hard to miss, and many reviewers are mentioning it. Sent by his father as a hero to save the word... referred to as a "savior" more than once in the film, stabbed in the side with a spear-like piece of Kryptonite, falling from the sky in the perfect form of Christ on the cross, and returning to earth after a death-like absence reminiscent of the resurrection. Good or bad? True to the character?

"save the word" was supposed to read, "save the world." ;)

I thought the film was very true to the character as immortalized by the original 1978 film and the comic books. Yes, there is definitely Christ imagery in it, but this should neither be considered bad or good. If you are a Christian, consider it a compliment to the savior. If not, consider it a re-occurring theme of storytelling. In truth, there are only about 17 plot lines anyway, and Shakespeare covered them all. The greater question at stake is, do the writers of Superman Returns think that Christ and Mary Magdalene conceived a child, since it's obvious that Superman did? Are they piggybacking off of the success of the DaVinci Code? More importantly, since orgasms are an involuntary muscle reaction, why didn't Kal-El's ejaculation blow Lois Lane apart like a fire-hose in a balloon?
