why not run a spyware scan first, such as spybot:::http://www.safer-networking.org/,and determine what spyware may be on your p.c and then try adaware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/,this works against a different sort of pest,"adware" were as spybot deals with "spyware"
give them both a run and see what it finds and clean anything that is found
now use the option to remove it,if there was going to be a trap to browser hijack your p.c ,it would of been picked up on the scans
theres 2 ways you can play this 1)uninstall the toolbar and then scan(recommended)or 2)scan your p.c then uninstall the toolbar
ive recommended the 1st option as if spyware or adware is created by the removal of the toolbar, the scan will clean up the problem
why not download and install the evaluation version of f-secure anti-virus at http://esd.element5.com/demoreg.html?productid=300042690&languageid=1,this contains alomg with a virus scanner,a spyware and rootkit scanner, and a brilliant internet explorer sheild, which will block such nasties as browser hijacks, any unauthorized installation of programs such as "toolbars" and f-secure has the fastest reaction time to in-the-wild viruses keeping you on top of all the latest threats
run these programs and these will sort out the toolbar problem and prevent any such thing happening again
good luck

The same thing happened to me only the other day. It came straight in through the window and whack straight into the side of my computer. I thought at first it was going to hit my pet octopus, Crystal in her cage, thankfully the computer was in the way. As for getting rid of it that was a tricky one. It was well wedged in there and in the end I used an angle grinder to get rid of the larger pieces, then picked the rest out with a paper clip. Took me the best part of 2 days as it seems to have shattered on impact. Crystal was fascinated and sat there for hours watching me, munching on her Digestive biscuits. Hope that helps

Is it a toolbar or an icon on the tool bar???????
If its a tool bar you can un_select it in the View>Toolbar part of your menu
If its an icon on the tool bar go to View>Toolbar>Customize and drag the icon off the toolbar into the customize box

Try to remove that from add/remove program in the control panel.
If it doesnt work, then use some spyware/adware remove tool.

You definitely want to download "Spybot Search and Destroy" and "Lavasoft Adaware Personal Edition" if you haven't done so already. Always update these programs before scanning. You can download these free at...
