The buyer or bidder cannot cancel a bid on ebay. You have to contact the seller as soon as possible and ask him or her to cancel your bid. They will retract your bid for you since they have the option to do so.
Click on MY EBAY on the website. Then you should have the item you bid on listed on that page. Click on it. Then there is an option to CONTACT SELLER. Contact the seller and ask him or her to retract your bid. They will glady do it because they are the one at a loss if they dont cancel it for you.

A seller can cancel but a buyer cant retract unless he put in the wrong amount. He then would have to enter the right amount immediately. There are rules for a reason.
